  • My usage with E7 (sorry cannot work out the year, as I had a new Smart meter installed)

    July - Oct
    Day 139.0 kWh
    Night 297.1 kWh
    Oct - Nov
    Day 106.1 kWh
Night 408.5 kWh (heating on now)

Assume my night would always be more for the immersion heater, even when no NSHs on.

I track costs and usage via ihd and spreadsheet - even recalculating costs when EOn set the wrong unit and sc rates for 3 m - calculating off peak / peak splits from totals.

But always check statements exactly across Ofgem changes - both bills and once again - after Aprils mistake on meter so ihd rates and costings in £/p - meter.

They have a running 12m usage section.

And also receive a seperate price change summary email letter with a revised annual cost estimate - every 3m now - with Ofgem cap price changes - again including an estimate of last 12m usage.

Peak off peak usage annually based  - new rates old rates -  annual cost estimates - the difference and an in my case annualised /  "fixed" DD change if required.

But compared to others EOn Next seemed to have far clearer comms / presentation re EBSS and EPG over last year.  So maybe that's an exception rather than a rule.

Don't other suppliers do the same ?
  • I realise now I should have put the tariff name to make it easier for people should they wish to investigate further, as per Dealyboy. I also found this Octopus energy tariff called flexible octopus ( which I thought all octopus's were ) :)
    Daily standing charge
    42.11p /day
    Unit rate (day)
    35.37p /kWh
    Unit rate (night)
    14.84p /kWh
    Early exit fee£0

And this one from E on

    Next Fixed 12m v6 1 yr fixed

    Daily standing charge44.01p
    Unit rate
    35.83p per kWh (Day)
    13.71p per kWh (Night)

    Exit fee £75.00

  • Oops forgot the link for Eon quotes, would appear I haven't been around long enough to post links. Hopefully you get the idea.   eonnext.com/dashboard/journey/get-a-quote

Are those SVR/flexible tariffs for the 1st Jan rates or current October ones?

    Hi Swipe,
I apoligise for my assumption regarding octopus energy Flexible tariff. After emailing them it would appear that the rates they are giving out on their website are current and Not what will be available from Jan 1st. Again I apoligise for my error.

No need to apologise. I was tempted by the octopus flexible price when I ran a quote until I twigged that it was actually the current rate and that the off peak rate would likely rise by another 3p.

@johnneboy Please be aware that rates between suppliers may be different for the different regions and a given supplier may not necessarily be the cheapest for all regions. People should check specifically for their own region.
  • EDF have sent me their rates from January and due to the E7 night rate rise, they reckon £225 a year extra, so £18.75 a month.
