I don't see the relevance if the OP's husband is a sole trader? Have they both received a CCJ?
OP needs to provide proper info and context for anyone to offer meaningful advice here.

I'm assuming that the customer's only source of information in this regard was the website. If it wasn't the case. Why not make a rebuttal earlier. As the CCJ would be against both named individuals trading as "x".
