I am 52 and the last two winters I have really suffered from the cold, to the extent that its a miserable time for me , I need to find a solution for next year.

Where could I go that is warm, quiet and peaceful and live very cheaply and minimally for a month or two ?

Some people go to Morocco for that reason. Finding accommodation at local rather than tourist prices is going to be difficult, however.

    How cheaply?
A,lot of countries aren't that cheap these days.
One option is to see if Saga still do their 4week holidays. That used to be popular. You only have to pay for a flight at each end. Transfers too. What you spend after that is up to you.
Retired folk I knew found that it was cheap and pleasant in places you wouldn't expect.
Benedorm and Palma. Apparently they were quiet and enjoyable aout of season.

Spain, Portugal and italy have cheap public transport.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

    Depends how adventurous you are.

Southern India (Kerala, Tamil Nadu), Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos are all popular in winter and cheap to live.  Malaysia if you want somewhere slightly more developed, Langkawi, Penang.

If you want somewhere more 'local', but not as cheap as Far East, Madeira is pleasant.  21 degees at the moment.

Do you need to be able to work while you’re away? Wondering about remote working?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Spain can be very cold in winter. November to February inclusive can see temperatures below freezing. If you want year round sun without long haul travel I'd suggest the canary islands. Virtually everything is cheaper than the UK.

A lot of people used to go to Goa for 6 months during our winter.
It's been a few years since we last went so no idea if it's still a good place to go.
    TripAdvisor may be useful.

I suspect you will encounter problems with stays of 90+ days in EU countries.

Lots of non-EU places have limits on visas.
IIRC, Goa (India) was 180 days which allowed people to go in November when the tourist season started and come home in March/April.

Do take into account the cost of any vaccinations/medication that may be recommended for whichever destination you are considering.
