Best energy provider for KEEPING TRACK of energy consumption?
I'm currently with UW and have a SMETS2 smart meter. But the UW iOS App and UW website don't provide much information, purely monthly bills, no graphs, pie charts, etc. I have a remote display unit for the smart meters but I'd prefger to view the household energy consumption on my phone, tablet or computer.

I'm with Octopus and the website and app both give me half-hourly, daily, monthly and annual charts of gas and electricity use. I used to get similar info from EDF.I also have the Octopus Home Mine which gives me live electricity consumption data in the app.N. Hampshire, he/him. Shall we say it....one with the kraken software and a working smart meter.
So ultimately first choice Octopus2 -
Octopus, especially when you get a Home Mini.2

Another vote for Octopus. The Home Mini gives you live usage data, breakdown over the last 5mins and last 30mins, and the daily data appears in real-time on the app so no waiting for a 2am data pull or a more frequent but still periodic pull with one of the third-party apps like Bright or Loop.
Any of the suppliers fully using Kraken will have referral codes btw, so if you do switch, make sure to find one.
However, third-party apps will likely be of use to you already and show you much more than your UW account does. So you can take your time deciding whether to switch and to whom, whilst already having access to more info than UW is providing. The Bright app is free, I don't know about any of the others.2 -
Obviously Octopus is a good shout, although customer service may have dipped a bit due to them taking on so many new customers in recent years, however…
there’s also apps that you can use with any utility provider as long as they can talk to your smart meter. I use one called Hugo, but there’s others such as loop available too.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)1 -

And yet is still way ahead of the dinosaur former Big-6 companies.

third party apps where you input a reading. e.g. energy tracker on apple or android. Yes, you have to input a reading but even if you do it once a month, it tracks three years of use and overlays days, months, quarters, years to allow you to see if you are doing better/worse.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Octopus or one of the 3rd party apps eg. Bright, Hugo and Loop

A simple way is to set a time each day to suit and take your meter reading. Subtract the lower from todays higher and multiply the difference by the KWH price. Boom! Done! Add the standing charge and add 5% VAT. at the end of each payment time.No doubt that will be criticised 🤣1

Hi, thank you so much for all the replies, I’m sorry but I don’t know how to use comments toolbar. But.ST said, “ Any of the suppliers fully using Kraken will have referral codes btw, so if you do switch, make sure to find one.”
And also this,” The Home Mini gives you live usage data, breakdown over the last 5mins and last 30mins, and the daily data appears in real-time on the app”I think others also mentioned Kraken but I don’t know what it is?
Also is the Home Mini an amazon smart speaker?
I’m sorry for the late reply, I don’t get notifications and wasn’t expecting any replies. I was pleasantly surprised0
