Hi

Just making sure that people are aware of Sport Direct and their hidden costs.

Nowhere on their online site does it inform you that unwanted goods will cost you £4.99 to return.

Initiate a return and they'll suddenly ask for £5 from your credit card. Ask to speak to customer service regarding the charge, and you'll be met with silence.

It does say returns must be paid for unless a wrong item or damaged item has been delivered,
You are just missing it .

make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • But @McKneff it one thing to be responsible in the way the terms are written:
You must pay for any return delivery costs, except where the wrong item has been sent to you or the item is defective.
And being charged £5 by SportsDirect at the time of return, if that’s what’s happened. It’s not totally clear from the OP.

If that is the case, it's obviously purposely written somewhere in the bowels of their website?

When i selected Customer Services - Returns and Refunds - Returns - Returns Online -

The 28-day refund, 10kg weight issue, and 14 days for a refund, are all very easy on the eye. A £4.99 charge would be just as easy to see, but they've failed to include that.

There's a raft of advice under the "return policy overview" including their paperless and collection options, fully tracked serviced returns, QR codes to scan, even underwear advice, just no mention of the £4.99.

Feels very out of order to me.

Whereabouts is this "returns must be paid for" advice you found, please?

I thought it was common knowledge that you get nothing from this company.  Here, the House of Fraser and a few others.  You pay for delivery, you pay for click and collect from store and you pay for returns.  Buy nothing from here unless prepared to pay and pay.  I only buy from their high street ones as you get to try on and walk away.  Once bitten, twice shy.

Exactly. Won't be going anywhere near the place again.

I was just wondering why you shouldn't pay for the return?

    Hi.
I have absolutely no problem paying for a returned parcel, if I was aware of the charge before ordering.
My problem is that the Sport Direct return charges are very purposely, extremely well hidden somewhere on their website and there is no charge listed on their 'Online Returns and Refunds Information Page'.

    Finally spotted it. 👍🏼

It's almost like they've done it intentionally. 🙄

I think Sports Direct are being very obfuscatory about the returns charge and I would be annoyed in your position too.

It should be clear during the purchase and certainly shown in both FAQs and Delivery & Returns that there is a cost for returns.

A lot of people post on this board and Consumer Rights about charges being 'hidden' but usually, it's because they have simply missed them.

    Not so in your case.
