Why dont you take a look at the security sticky almost 52,000 have ! personally I use all free security and havnt had a problem, if your uninstalling norton use the proper tool to delete it properly off your system, and be prepared to see an incresae in speed once the B***ard is deleted

I have had a few problems with the default settings of the latest version of Comodo firewall. When installed with Defense+ and default settings, it fails leak tests! I would recommend installing it with "basic settings" (i.e. without Defense+) and immediately changing the default firewall settings to "custom mode" to prevent applications being automatically being let through. This resolves the issue and it will then pass leak tests.
The free editions of AVG Antivirus and Avira AntiVir are both excellent, so install either of these.
To prevent Malware, use Spybot Search & Destroy and SpywareBlaster.0 -
I use AVG Anti virus, AVG anti spyware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Threatfire and Zone Alarms firewall. Also used is ccleaner. I've had no problems with any of these programs in a couple of years now. All these programs are readily available for free.
I used to use Norton Anti virus but that hogged the laptop's resourses and was not very good at all.
Like gooner045 says have a read of the security sticky and take it from there.0 -
Avast is another good free anti-virus program. If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0

I had comodo on one of my computers, it drove me mad.
it would pop up and say
XXX program is trying to access the internet through your browser, do you want XXX program to access the internet?
When I hit the "Disallow" button it didn't stop XXX program from accessing the internet, it stopped the browser from accessing the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I supose it is some stupid programmer being too lazy to find out how to stop all programs from accessing the internet, so they made it so when you disallowed a program from accessing the internet via the browser it disallowed the browser from accessing the internet.
This meant a reboot to gain access to the internet, simply closing comodo and the browser wasn't enough. So when it poped up saying a program was trying to access the internet through the browser you had to think "If I say no I will have to reboot and hope the program doesn't try again, or do I allow it"
It also just allowed many programs to access the internet, even in custom mode.
I thought it was a waste of space. Threw up a few alerts to make you think it was working but missed most of the things AVG caught on the same machine.0 -
If you want to pay for Anti Virus software Kaspersky is the best, but I use AVG free and its more than adequate, never had any problems with it better than Norton Anti Virus.0

nod32 is where its at.0

Have to agree...NOD 32 from www.eset.com not free but one of the cheaper options and beats most others hands down. Have been using it for three years without a problem.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0

NOD32 gets my vote aswell and they now do the full internet security suite to
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best
Just because it's free don't mean it's good
Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:
Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right
