the "common fault" seems to be extremely common on a particular batch; whether other meters of the same type are prone to becoming faulty is less clear.baglessupright said:
The engineer walked through the door, took one look at the make/model/year of the meter and said that this batch number (2008) was notorious for failing. He also said that, generally, the failure rate for meters is extremely low.

The casing on those Ampy meters are prone to becoming very brittle, which can expose live parts if they get a knock.0

Talk about customer service I have never had to contact Octopus so I regard that as excellent

Just incase you haven't read this before on the forum the first response will likely be a "smart" one
If it's an easy response such as sending you back a reply to a link to book a smart meter and general info that is answered by programming a "bot"
Bots can eleviate 90% plus of repetitive customer service responses.
See "Smart" is good and you were impressed enough to post about it 👍1
