am a eon customer from 1st of June ,I changed my economy 7 tarriff to a fixed rate .To do this I had to have a smart meter. My new rate is 34 day rate and 11p night rate .However the smart meter is charging everything at day rate .My last bill showed price of 120 all at day rate with 0 for night reading , despite using my storage heaters for at least 15 nights.
My bill for this month is 250 pounds .according to smart meter despite not using imersion heater etc .7.30 am reading can show 12 pound then by evening its gone up to 14 pounds as I am reluctant to turn anything on..I believe my smart meter is not connecting and is beinging sorted.I think it is not a economy 7 smart meter as it says price tier 1 of 1 .Can any one advise as this is causing me alot of anxiety and I am reluctant to put a bedroom heater on so very cold at night warm in the lounge where storage heaters are on at day rate during the night thank you

Have you had a bill? or are you looking at the device in your house? The IHD is not a meter, just a "guide"🍺 😎 Still grumpy, and No, Cloudflare I am NOT a robot 🤖BUT my responses are now out of my control they are posted via ChatGPT or the latest AI0

...I believe my smart meter is not connecting and is beinging sorted.I think it is not a economy 7 smart meter as it says price tier 1 of 1.It sounds very much as though E.ON have not sent the correct settings to your smart meter. Have you spoken toE.ON customer service about this?(And did you post this message earlier? I'm sure I've read it before?)N. Hampshire, he/him. Thank you for your helpful reply .Pleased that it is a economy 7 meter and Eon needs to send the right settings .I have been in touch and they say the smart meter department will take 6 weeks which is worrying ..At the end of the night the cost is 13pounds 56 pence .then at the end of the day it goes up to around 16 pounds in total do you think the extra almost 2/3 of night rate charged will be given back to us .Thanks again Spoonie_Turtle0

If so, the data will record 30 min slots (even if it's only sent monthly), so you should be able to ask them to apply an adjustment to your bill to charge you at the correct rates for when the energy was used. At the very least, they should agree to you making a smaller payment now based on an estimate of your actual usage split and pay any balance once the issue is sorted.
They may be reluctant as they would have to calculate it manually - but if they refuse you can make a formal complaint. After 8 weeks if they have not billed you correctly you can escalate it to the ombudsman who will order them to do so and may also order some compensation (normally around £30-60) for the inconvenience/poor customer service.
If you can't see your readings on your account but the meter in your home is recording usage, then don't worry. The meter saves data for a little over a year, so when it's finally sorted they will be able to calculate the bill correctly for you... again, you might have to make a complaint and take it to the ombudsman as Eon are not the best for customer service.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2 -
@debt_free_hope This can be fixed by a person who answers the phones at E.ON Next. The 6 weeks excuse is BS. Raise a complaint. You just need to get through to someone who knows what they are doing. I was in the same situation after a switch (on E7 and only writing to the day register) and it took me phoning everyday for a week until I got through to someone who knew what they were doing and suddenly it was fixed within about 15 mins. They also gave me the runaround about it having to go to another department which is not strictly true.2

Up date on my smart meter problem .meter fixed now recording day and night .Bill for almost 3 weeks 99 pounds .
When had the problem bill for December 383 pounds
Said they would look at the now correct night readings and readjust the .problem bills .
Just had email saying the problem bill will be even more because the night reading was recording 0 and they will have to add the new night readings. It is our choice
.doh !! It was previously recording through the day and night on day reading tarriff why the bills were so high .
We have now gone to the energy ombudsman who fully understands the situation .

Sadly the quality of Eon's customer service took a dive when they became Eon Next.

Going from bad to worse. The smart meter was fixed 22 January and the chap who fixed it showed us how to read the new main meter. Worked fine .T1 was day reading T2 was night reading
Just got a bill recalculating from the 22nd of january to yesterday .Both day and night started at 0 on the 22nd of january .The day reading was 1087.9 and the night reading was 106.3
Total cost 423pouunda.51p pence.
We are on economy 7 as we have night storage heaters , we hardly use electric during the day because of all the trouble .From this it is obviously wrong.Mixed day and night reading up.
This is added to our 500 plus debit because they have not sorted the 24 hr day rate from October.
We shortly will be hearing from the ombudsman and today I've updated the evidence with this statement.
Do you think the ombudsman will be able to sort this .With thanks for any help.1
