Why do you want to remove them?
It's very difficult to see what 'black cover and plastic connector' are supposed to do and how, but, most likely, they are for connecting the mains cable to the fitting. If so, I don't see any problem with replacing this connector with any other suitable UK one. If the cable has earth wire you'll need to terminate it or connect reliably to the metal casing.

Can you open that white plastic connector, JT? In theory the brown and blue wires going to it can be connected to any type of suitable terminal.
But, as Grumb points out - where's the earth on that clearly metal fitting? Where did the light come from?

The wiring is double-insulated, so, I think, the fitting doesn't need earthing.

    Could be.
So a normal 2-core flex as shown is 'double insulated'? I guess it is!

I have come across those connectors before. The supply cable runs up the black insulation sleeve into the rather shoddy plastic connector on which the cover is easy to break when removing.

But the brown and blue don't look right?

Could do with a photo at another angle
  • Where are the wiring instructions for the fitting??

  • I've taken a snap from inside the plastic connector, the model is from https://www.firstchoicelighting.co.uk/ara-chrome-led-flush-ceiling-light.html

In which case, if you wish to use your own connector, you release these two wires by slackening the two terminal screws.
I'm a bit concerned you are struggling with the wiring concept. Does this make sense to you?
Could you explain WHY you wish to remove that provided connector? What do you intend to use instead?

These must be used to maintain the Class II construction of the luminaire. Frankly this is a garbage product, but you must not alter it without realising the hazards you are almost certain to create by doing so.

Non-Electricians like @grumbler giving incorrect advice here is not helpful.

Appreciate peoples comments/feedback. My plan was to remove this pendent and replace it with the led light.
Earth into push fit electrical connector on it's own as Earth is not required for this fitting
Live and Neutral routed through insultation and terminated into the respect connections on the plastic block.

    Hopefully that's right :)
