anyone had any success haggling with Plusnet? I've tried unsuccessfully but was wondering whether to give them another call.

Depends which service your are after, and what they have offered already. I assume you are out of contract or it's coming to an end.0

About what exactly ?
A couple of quid, A larger amount, bad service,

Hi, yes I'm coming to end of contract and they have given me an offer for renewing. I wanted to see if they could give me a cheaper offer (I only need basic broadband) as there are companies offering faster broadband for less money.0

You should be able to get the same offer they are offering new customers - check what the latest is on the website.1

My experience with Plusnet renewals is that they keep making lower & lower offers until about two weeks before your contract is up, then that's the lowest they'll go.
Keep logging-in to your account and see what's offered.
Don't accept the first 'discount' you see.

In my experience the exception to this is if you place an order with another supplier, Plusnet then contact you with a better offer. (though not necessarily better than the other supplier). The choice then is yours.alanwsg said:My experience with Plusnet renewals is that they keep making lower & lower offers until about two weeks before your contract is up, then that's the lowest they'll go.1 -
That is my experience. I am with Plusnet. When the last renewal offer came through it wasn't competitive so I started the switching process to another ISP. Plusnet then phoned me and offered a lower price which I accepted as it was lower than the price the ISP I was going to switch to offered. I cancelled the switch and am still with Plusnet.PeterGr said:

Well thats interesting because they certainly didn't phone me just a "sorry to see you go" email and a follow up "why did you leave us" well at £51 a month I'm certainly not staying for that not on 36mbps FTTC line thank you very much. Switching is so easy these days no need for a MAC or even a dropout of service on handover day just unplug one router plug in another and away you go
Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
As more and more exchanges move over to Fibre Priority, it will become increasingly difficult to negotiate a good price for copper based b/band as they know switching ISP is very difficult.0

No luck. I have been with them for a couple of years.
They offered £24.99 to renew my FTTC connection without a phone line.
I called and "after talking to a manager", offered £23.50 I think, so hardly nothing on top of the normal offer. They wouldn't offer a new contract shorter than 24 months.
I am switching to Shell Energy now, as should pay the equivalent of £13.50 (after cashback and Amazon voucher), on only a 12 months contract.
I know support is poorly rated, but I assume connection will be about the same (Openreach).
Plusnet did send an offer after being notified of the switch, but was still £24.99, so not better than the standard offer.1
