tiger135 said:grumpy how big are the g7 and g9? how do they perform still? surprisingly the g5 is still probably better than a new cheap handset eg nokia.
My G7 is the "Power" version 7.5 cm x 16 cm. IIRC, the "standard" G7 was slightly smaller.
My wife's G9 is the "Play" version and a little larger than my G7, just under 8 cm x 16.5 cm.
The G4 was quite a bit smaller - especially in the length - at 7 cm x 14 cm.
It is, though, when you consider the phone in case that the size change becomes really apparent. The G4 was available with an official Motorola case which you removed the original back from the phone, the case fitted exactly in place and the thin flap folded over to protect the phone screen.
The later phones don't have that "official" case option so I got the nearest aftermarket case available. This means the phone sitting in a rubber surround stuck to a leather rear and with a chunkier fold-over screen protect cover. This takes the "all-in" size of the G7 in case right up to 8.5 cm x 16.5 cm x whopping 2 cm thick. (The G7 case does include card and note slots, which are handy and mean no need to carry a separate wallet - feature that the G4 case did not have).
The original G4 and the G7 actual phones are both about 0.8 cm thick (G4 including the case thickness).
With the rate of progress, we will soon be back to the original car-phone:
