Chase bank notifications when abroad

When I spend on my Chase card I get a notification message saying what's been spent. Very useful.

However I'm going to be abroad in a zone 4 country where receiving SMS messages are charged for.  Are the spend notifications sent as SMS if so how can I avoid getting charged for these notifications?

I have searched around the Chase app and can find no way to turn these notifications off.

Incoming SMS messages are not chargeable while roaming anywhere by any network. Do you have information otherwise..?

If you mean notifications on your Chase app, they will arrive when you have an internet connection by WiFi or mobile data on your phone - relevant charges, if any, will apply. If you avoid roaming data charges but connect by free WiFi the app will then receive the info to give you the notifications, even if the transactions were made when you had no connection.

Sorry got it all wrong (senior moment) and you are right! I misread the table and looked at costs of incoming voice call not incoming texts, which as you say are nonchargeable.

I'll make sure data roaming is off so hopefully won't receive any thing unless its when I am on WiFi. 

So are the spend notifications from Chase SMS or are they some app based communication, its not important just trying to understand?
