META Fraud

I have a small business that occasionally advertises on META (facebook and Instagram) A scammer set up a fake page under my business and created an ad that took nearly £500 from my bank account. I reported straight away to META. They told me that as my card was used without my authorisation I would be refunded . They refunded me, cancelled the (fake) page and the ad. But then another £150 charge has appeared. META refuse to refund this as they don't see any evidence of it being a scam, even though it relates to the original fraud. They can't charge my card as I cancelled it.
What are my rights? META say I owe this amount, I say I don't.
Any tips on how to resolve? Thank you!

Sounds like you need to change your META account details if someone is able to log in and use your account to create ads.

Meta's decision seems inconsistent. If the second charge relates to the same advert and they have accepted that your card was used fraudlently, then surely it should also be refunded. I think I would talk to your card issuer about what they can do. They will have a route into Meta that is not available to consumers. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

I assume you have fallen for a phishing scam and given away your log in details so someone now can login as you and authorise a payment. You will need to change your account details and possibly card details.
For the payment that has already been taken you might need to go to your bank rather than Meta.0 -

It seems inconsistent that Meta is enforcing policy differently for the same issue. As others have said, it seems your account has been compromised. Change your account password (and potentially other accounts if you share passwords between email, other websites etc). Additionally, for any place that has your payment details I would set up two factor authentication. As for what to do next, you can instruct Facebook to cease all ad campaigns that use your card, and of course you can contact your bank to see if the charges are reversible. However, these transactions fall well out of the scope of consumer rights as this is firmly a B2B transaction. As such a lot of the comforts afforded to customers will not apply. If Facebook doesn’t comply, then you can sue them, but they may end their relationship with you and close the account. Or you can contact your bank. But be sure to update your security settings.0
