Another NSD, think it could be #13/14
Wet & windy here. Wrapped up & walked 4 miles with DH. Stopped at the village shop for celery, but hardly had any veg. Since it became an Arseda Xpress, they've lost so many customers due to high prices & low stock. Maybe they'll rethink things in the new year & cater more for a village, not a motorway pitstop!
Read a chapter of my book whilst eating dinner, then finished making the quilled picture. It looks quite good in its frame 😃 Collected DS3 from town (drove behind some of the decorated tractors returning home from the tractor run), then we watched a film together.
Grateful for lots of fairy lights, my book being good, a finished pictureUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Many many thanks to everyone who participated this month, hugs for everyone who is struggling, thanks for all the care you show each other (sorry, I've been a bit rubbish at that this month). I spent yesterday coughing half my lungs up, so I redid the bed so I could sleep more or less sitting up and have a heavy quilt rolled up at the end of the bed so I can push myself upright easily if I start to slump. When my cousin phoned last night (the phone ran out of charge when we spoke previously) I said i had a temperature. She asked if I'd actually taken my temperature or just felt hot (she's nurse). I said i'd just taken off my cardigan and dress, wasn't under the bedclothes and the window was open.
I've had a comfortable night and might hibernate until next year. If I get downstairs my priorities are sorting some washing out - there are dark things that need to go outside (think it's a black towel and a brown throw of theirs), going through the fridge checking which things should be used first and getting rubbish and recycling out. Having fixed my bed, my cleaning priorities are wiping the bathroom sink and finishing cleaning the toilet (I'll put the clean bathmat down shortly before midnight tomorrow). Other than that it's just plodding through the clutter mountain.
I'm grateful for getting things off my chest (literally), easy food (yesterday was finishing all the leftovers, today will be salad-ish (lots of things I wanted were unavailable but I have a cabbage to shred and a stir fry mix to use as a base). Just been gifted most of a small roast chicken so will have breakfast yoghurt instead of a later meal. . Most of all I'm grateful for feeling comfortable and a bit brighter.
My wish for us all for next year is health (no more nasties, prompt attention when we're in trouble and being more successful in managing that which must be endured not cured), wealth (just enough not to live in fear of the next bill, a bit extra for treats and spare cash to help those in need - i think a big house, a fast car and winter cruises would be wasted on me) and happiness (remember you can choose it, even in the sad times you can find the good).
Had enough chicken, I have plans for 2 possibly 3 more meals off that.
With love

I like your health, wealth and happiness, grandmanerd. I split this year into health, wealth and a life well lived with about 4 months each. Though I'd forgotten about that until I read your post! I think I faded from thinking about it around the October half term when poorliness in one form or another was the main thing here in the apple household. I love it as a general life focus, and think I may even have used it one month for the challenge.Like abundant, I'm In the position to re-think who I am, what and who I want to be. Flippin' 'eck, it's a toughie!!!

Lazy day today, but I did take a look at the Christmas parsnips, and decided that they needed to be used up. So I made curried parsnip soup for lunches, and roasted the last couple to go with tonight's dinnerCan't believe it is nearly 2024!7

Felt well enough to go with my friends to the adult pantomime last night but poor mum couldnt go as she couldnt stop coughing. Good job she didnt as they had a smoke effect machine that was so overpowering even Aladdin on his flying carpet was trying to waft it away so he could see and sing! It was a fantastic night and i haven't laughed that much for ages.
As I was driving there the moon, although not full, was huge and orange and looked very low. It really made me happy to see such a fantastic natural sight.
My sister brought her grandson (3) over this morning as his mum was ill. He's so funny and rushes around. We played, had lunch and they headed off. We were pooped! Good chance to use some veggies up and a YS Apple crumble.
Decluttering in the garage this afternoon. Bag of books for my cousin, box of items for the charity shop and some embroidery threads for my friend. Also decluttered some of the posh chocolates from my son.Yum.
Have packed mum's faulty heated throw to take to be checked over tomorrow and a wooden sewing basket which needs the handle glueing back on. The basket can then go to charity. Also found a couple of dvds to watch then they can go too.
Still on 3 NSDs. Ive had a couple of goes on the lotto tonight so fingers crossed. Grateful for seeing the beautiful moon last night, the fun of the panto with my friends, a lovely lunch today with family and posh chocs. X

Hi there. Still here. Light rain today - might actually rain on the Rose Parade this year - but just light sprinkles. Only rained on the parade about 10 times in 134 years, usually the Chamber of Commerce makes sure the rain stays away. But the rain should make it easy to see the mountain view which is sometimes obscured by the fog.
I went shopping this morning to get stuff for the kitchen and a few food items. Shouldn't need to shop again till next year which means I will have 18 NSDs this month. But have a major financial frog to take care of next week. So it may be a very spendy week. Roommates bought the cat food this time.
Achievements for year - won a kindness award from the County, held 12 book sales for our library (I run them and do most of the sorting), and didn't do in my roommates.

Met up with friends for lunch to catch up. Unfortunately both the youngest and I were really tired, so was glad it was just a short outing. Had a nap this afternoon. Felt much better afterwards.

Good Evening! 🌖
Had a nice day though felt a little under the weather so gave visiting my parents a miss. Had to nip out to Arseda so not an NSD. Just trying to get some of my laundry done and household jobs... I like to let the NY in feeling in control and on top of things as best I can. Got my diaries/planners to sort out tomorrow and another load of washing.
January's budget is done ✅ and been good this month and not gone into any of it even though I got paid early. Have re-started my very complicated habit reward system where basically I pay myself for mindfulness/gym/going for a walk and that earns my spends or the week after. So if I do nothing I have no money!!! I have jars with marbles in and bonus rewards if I find a special marble haha. OCD? Moi??? It's whether I can be disciplined enough.
Hugs and well wishes to everyone - and thank you all for being a part of my life this last year.
Today I am grateful for:
1) Time to myself
2) My budgeting app
3) Old friends
Today = NSD number 12
