If it's to do with not having the correct fire exits or fire doors, or anything to do with fire safety then I'd absolutely want it sorting out, as I certainly wouldn't be sleeping in a room that doesn't meet fire regulations!
Doing the same from a 3rd floor loft conversion, assuming there IS a window, would probably kill you.
Anyway, we're now down to what aspects you might objectively not like about it, rather than whether it ticks all of the boxes which building control would have wanted at the time the works were done. It would be a bit daft to e.g. insist that the loft's insulation comes up to current standards when the rest of the house is still an EPC nightmare.4 -
