Mobile phone contract/ lack of service
With Sky mobile for about 8 months.
For the last 8 weeks have had no mobile data/wi fi due to a fault with a local mast.
My phone is "locked" in to the mast so even if I go 200 miles away it still won't connect.
The latest update is another 4 weeks due to awaiting an engineer.
Can I look at getting out of the contract or would it still be an acceptable delay?

What does the contract say about loss of service?
Is it your own handset, or part of the contract? It's not a good handset if it only works when it's near one mast!2 -
Not sure that makes sense.
Have you tried your sim in another phone and another sim in your phone and does the issue stay with the sim or the phone?2 -

The phone (or SIM) may be locked to the network, but should then just connect to the next mast if the nearest mast to your home is offline.
Which actual network does SKY mobile use?2 -
A phone will NEVER be locked to one tx/rx site, that's the whole point of MOBILE phones, they move their connections from cell to cell.
It sounds like a phone or SIM fault, suggest you check the APN settings of your handset and try the SIM in another.
PS. You don't get WiFi on mobile networks.5 -

As said the phone cannot be "locked" to a particular mast and wifi has nothing to do with the mast, local or otherwise.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

Have you reset your Network settings?30+ years working in banking1

Thanks for the comments/replies.
To answer some.
Contract phone GalaxyS21
Tried another SIm,does the same
Locked to mast-Sky help/twitter came back to quote"Your phone will connect to nearest mast and can't select another one manually"
Have reset Network settings
When away from Home WiFi the phone tries to connect to masts as I am driving,it keeps "pinging" but the same message comes up " No internet connection,Sky network unavailable.
Thanks

It is not normal for a phone to lock to only one mast.2 -
