Thanks - we don’t tend to use fans in the summer tbh, plus I’d rather not spend money on electric.markin said:Just use the fan you use in the summer to circulate the air. So many over heat and burn out in a week/year, and the flow isn't great anyway.2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

Stirling powered fans - nearly silent, no thermoelectric piles to fail, and if constructed from the right materials, can not be overheated.stirlingengine - Reasonably priced models..warpfivefans - Quite a bit more expensive, but they do have a number of other models.
The price of Stirling fans definitely made me do some homework before pulling the trigger. From what I’ve found, they’re a solid option if your stove runs on the hotter side, you’ve got a larger area you want to move the heat around in, and you don’t mind a little bit of noise (more like a whisper than anything distracting). And of course, they’ve got that steampunk vibe that’s hard not to like.
As you mentioned, there are the two UK makers — Vulcan and Warpfive — and there’s also an Irish one called Zephyr. Haven’t decided yet which way I’ll go, but they all seem like well-built machines.

Worth itNo idea what ours cost as it was here when we moved in. Makes a notable difference once it starts whirring round. Not sure why anyone would say they burn out? Mine is just heat powered. One of those things I haven't quite worked out the science on.1

Worth itWe don't have a log burner but we did notice a difference with the log burn fan like these. Not sure which type my old friend had (he had a big stove so required 3 fans!) although I am sure they all are similar as long as they are robust and well built.1
