Log burner fan - worth it’s or useless tat?

Just looking at these as we have a few cold spots in our room despite a 5kw burner. House gets upto 25 degrees when it’s been on for a while but cold spots can be frustrating!

They move a tiny amount of air to a very small distance away from the fire.

What temp do you get the fire up to?

Ours reaches 650f quite easily and heats a 20ft long room. I find that cleaning the glass makes a difference.

Thanks Mark - out glass never needs cleaning so I’m assuming it gets quite hot! Don’t have a thermometer to measure it though

I know 2 people with log burners and both have fans and they work great

Just do your research and buy a good one

Works good for us, particularly with the stoves sitting in a chimney.

We went with a Valiant, they have a disappointing 1 year warranty but we purchased ours in 2016 and touch wood no problems with it.

My mum got one recently and she loves it.

Wood burning releases pollution into your homes and the local area, which has a negative impact on your local environment.  As a result, local areas can have very poor air quality.
I wouldn't buy one for that reason, but I guess if you buy one when you are older, it's unlikely to affect you.

Thanks but I’m not after whether you would buy a wood burning stove, rather a fan to help (or not) distribute the thermal energy released.
I have a tall fan for the summer, would you find a fan useful for winter and summer?

We have a fan on our kitchen stove and we face it out towards the hall as that has cold spots. We find the fan definitely helps with cold spots.

Don't go for a cheap one but if you can afford it get something really decent that will last. We did and we don't regret the money we paid. We've had ours for 10 years now and it still works fine.

    Hope that helps.

I think it's definitely useful for us because the stove is in the fireplace so moving warm air into the room (even in small quantities) is beneficial. I doubt it would make a big difference to the extremities of the room though.
