Query about porting

in Mobiles
I took out ab ID mobile contract on Sunday and ported my number into the network yesterday.
On Monday I noticed that the deal had changed to include a £100 Currys voucher.
Despite calling ID mobile to see if they would send out the voucher, they stated that I would need to return the phone and take out a new contact.
Am I right in assuming I would lose my mobile number this way.
I'm thinking that I'll need to port to PAYG and back in but I'm now sure how this will work when I am cancelling the contract and returning the phone.
Any ideas?

When your ported number is already fully operational with incoming/outgoing calls and texts on the ID network SIM, it is safe. If you cancel while the port is still in progress you risk losing the number.

So would I now find a PAYG to port out to before I cancel the contract?June 2016 - Pair of Brooks Glycerin 14's

Undo the sale and pay for the calls used.OP one thing to bear in mind is that cancelling and then trying to take out another contract may not work as the contract might be refused for credit check or network security reasons.if that’s the case you’ll need to wait for the contract to be registered as cancelled with credit reference agencies. (Normally up to 30 days)1

Of course, for the number to be preserved, it still needs to be ported away from ID before the contract is cancelled, and I wouldn't like to predict a definite successful outcome as intended. In fact personally I would kiss goodbye to the voucher, bad luck to miss out by a day but worse things happen at sea...Evolution, not revolution0

I agree, it's far too complicated and uncertain for my liking.
Presumably the OP was happy with the deal when they took it out, so they've not really lost anything.

It may be worth requesting a pac, then initiating the cancellation of your contract, and then give the pac to a new provider. You may have difficulties cancelling a contract if the number has already ported and may find yourself billed early termination charges. But the pac may still work after the sim has been returned.

I've just realised that using the PAC from ID would terminate the ID service and contract, there would be nothing left to cancel. Requesting the PAC will give indication of early termination fees, if any, and trying to use a PAC after cancellation and return of equipment would seem pretty dicey at best... forget it...
