Hi,
I have a claim in with Jet2 for expenses including duty free that was that taken off us as we had to enter the country due to a delay. I had food, internet and duty free with a total of about £150. They have agreed to pay if i can provide the original receipts. The problem is I don't have have them, the duty free one was in thee duty free bag. They will not accept a bank statement as proof. Any tips....?

Not really. If you have no evidence of purchase, and nothing on paper to record the items being taken off you, you could be trying it on as far as they're concerned. Presumably the bank statement isn't itemised, so could represent all sorts of expenditure.0

Why would an airline take duty free off people?
Can you tell us the whole story here please.0 -
I presume the OP means that the passengers had to go back landside after boarding. It makes sense from a duty point of view, but I don’t know whether this is the normal procedure.la531983 said:Why would an airline take duty free off people?

(the other issue these days being liquids - if you have to go back through security in the morning for the new flight, you probably don't want to have to drink the litre of duty free spirits for breakfast beforehand...)0 -
OK I see. Interesting how they would enforce this. You could just put the duty free in a backpack and claim you didnt have any.0

The liquids issue I get.. The duty free not so much, surely they could ask you pay the duty rather than handing over the entire item. Or arguably not even that, as at the point of purchase the intention was to fly out of the country, and you are doing that just after a delay. Its hard to abuse because you didn't know of the delay.0

That’s a very interesting way of looking at itla531983 said:OK I see. Interesting how they would enforce this. You could just put the duty free in a backpack and claim you didnt have any.0 -

What liquids issue? They are presumably going airside to landside, can take as many liquids as they want going in that direction (up to the customs limit, obviously)saajan_12 said:The liquids issue I get.. Well, you could land with the duty free - but getting back through security to board again might be challenging - assuming this is what happened. Not 100% clear in the OPla531983 said:

Mayb the OP can clarify and breakdown where they get £150 from0 -
Yes, but like I said, what happens when they (presumably) come back to the airport after a matter of hours to board another flight? They could maybe put it into checked baggage, but that risks breakages and might not be feasible depending on whether they have any such baggage allowance.la531983 said:
