Benefits going up 6.8% in April. Does that mean ESA and PIP too?

If one gets £1590 a month does this mean my benefits are going up £103 in April?

Comments

  • 6.7% yes..... some benefits are by law (which a government can of course change!) increased by the September inflation rate like PIP and some the government can pick and choose like U/C in terms of whether to uprate and how much.

But the bottom line is your benefits all going up 6.7% from April.

Hmmmm I imagine they will, but I'll be surprised if you can earn £1 an hour more. I have to put more and more into my pension to keep the net pay down.

That will depend if you get any TP on your claim.

Going by OP past threads they are still claiming Income Related ESA and PIP and not UC.

If IR ESA was to go up again (I get the top amount you can get living on my own and getting PIP) without any increase in the Personal Tax Allowance, would I start paying tax.

With UC and PIP I already receive more than £12570 a year but I don't pay tax.

    IR-ESA isn't taxable.  Contributions-based/New-Style is.

That's because both of those benefits are not taxable.
