More on delays but not just probate

Mawm said:Good news here, all settled and under £200 was owed. Solicitors delt with the DWP so I'm unsure of dates of letters sent but they started the investigation in September, probate was granted the July before. I hope you get it sorted soon Congrats on getting a response from DWP. I do think it is a bit ridiculous though that your estate has been held up for 6 months for such a small amount of money.I am confident we will owe substantially more than that though so our estate does need a detailed review. Just seems unfair to me that when DWP come back with a simple question (which I had already answered last August!) we go right back to the start of the queue again.

For those of you following this thread, we finally got a response from DWP this week. The amount owed was substantial but a bit less than I thought.
It has been approaching a year and a half since DWP first contacted us. It is a complex case so I can understand it needed some time, but this seems ridiculously inefficient on their behalf. We could have paid them a year ago.
