Thanks Skint, Jwil, Flaco, GAP, TG and CCW007
I really hope everything works out for this house. I chased up the estate agent and the legal people today. They've agreed I don't have to pay the under-value indemnity - so just a £60 bill there rather than £300 I think.
The surveyors have belatedly texted me to agree to their terms and conditions so they can release the report and valuation to me. Numpties. They should have done all that before their visit - but I assumed it was covered by the Ts and Cs of the previous surveyor. I can't find a copy of their Ts and Cs anywhere so don't believe they've even sent them. That may mean they may not have sent it to the mortgage company yet - although I'm not entirely sure on that as the office girl I chatted to yesterday implied I was too late to influence anything as it had already been written and submitted.
I had a nice catch up with my cleaner today. I think we will miss each other when I move. She's done a great job again. We swapped xmas gifts but not opened them yet. I finished work early today. I went to the R*ng£ and got another wheelie rainbow drawer set. Very happy with it - plus bought some more paints I hoped would help with future skin colour on portraits. I also bought quality brushes. I still hope to repaint DD's portrait before Xmas. I'm going to keep the latest version(s) and give my parents the earlier ones. My cleaner felt I'd managed to make the paintings more '3D' and added depth so that was encouraging. Just one more day to work then I'm done for the year. Seeing counsellor after work tomorrow.
Still got wrapping to do. Not sure how much is still left as I hid it all in my wardrobe when my buyers came over the other week and done very little with it since.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad the house of your dreams survey went well and glad appt did as well. Onwards and upwards your endDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

The amount of chasing you have to do to get people to do their actual profession is very depressing - hope they all pull their fingers out soon!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Thanks LWAP and Merlin
I agree on the chasing. The surveyors had sent their Ts and Cs by snail mail (unsurprisingly not yet arrived) - so now got them via email and returned them electronically. The valuation had already been submitted to the mortgage company (Tuesday) - and I am still waiting for the docs to be released to me - the payer (roll eyes). I chased the EA to chase my vendor yesterday but not heard back. Not heard anything about the mortgage offer yet. I was on hold to them earlier but got cut off after about 15 minutes and not tried again. May ring them tomorrow morning and see if there is any update. When I spoke to my legal person yesterday she had acted on what I'd sent her by Monday - just forgotten to update me.
I messed about with DD's previous portrait yesterday evening and made some parts better and others worse. I improved her eyes, cheek bones and colour contrast on the chin - but need to repaint other parts of her chin and neck. I improved her hair in some ways - but now need to go back and add more contrast. I made a start on the new one although it is at the scary rather than pretty stage currently. I hope to continue it this evening and tomorrow.
I had bad dreams overnight around job loss risks due to the latest under funding announcements. I'm not hugely political but starving organisations of cash that residents rely on for core services is [insert words here]. If 1 in 5 jobs are tax payer funded - they should also not ignore us in their calculations or attempts to win votes. Lots of other countries are faring better with higher taxation regimes and people have a better standard of living and higher welfare & pension entitlements - it can be done. Makes me really glad that I'm due to have a big EF after the move. I lost my job 3 weeks after moving into this house - luckily at the time we were dual income but I suppose it scars... Now I'm single income I'm more wary - probably like LWAP about the potential impacts of income loss on sustainability of payments.

The funding situation is just dire. People rely on these public services and they have been cut to the bone already, everything will just get worse and worse."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Glad you got through the hospital appointment ok. Well done because it's not easy.
survey sounds pragmatic and helpful.
let's hope you can keep the various professionals involved in the move progressing at a reasonable pace.5 -
You lost your job 3 weeks after the last move .. wow.. Yes you having a large EF thanks to your downsizing is such a gift to yourself, peace of mind and your creativity.
I will definitely be holding a large EF fund back as per SSS advice.. and not dumping it all on the mortgageDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
