So sorry to read about your relative. The local library is a great resource. I've just joined the reading group at mine. Popped in and collected this month's book and can already feel the girly swot emerging. Do I need a book group notebook? Yes of course i do and I found a nice book in my stationery stash that was a work freebie. I haven't yet justified a bag for book group. It's one paperback and my notebook that need to be transported 5 minutes walk away, however, what if I need an umbrella etc? 🤷♀️ Not sure that I like this month's book much but I'll persevere with it and hopefully it will improve.
hope you have been able to enjoy some sunshine in your lovely garden.5 -
Thanks KK, Jwil, Skint and Blackcats
I felt rested at the hairdressers - I almost fell asleep. My watch agreed and it was the longest blue zone I've seen on my watch for a long time. I've been going there almost 2 decades. I told him what was going on and he gave me a lovely hug (in front of his wife) at the end. I forgot my ADHD tablet yesterday which was possibly just as well. I had a bit of a lie in this morning. I haven't yet taken my tablet today either. I think the tablets were adding to my feelings of being out of control so am taking a conscious break this weekend and so far feel calmer.
Yesterday I bought some cheaper good quality paper and a couple of other art bits. Had a McD came home and drew, finished the audio story and then did a little Italian. Updated my £. DD has borrowed some £ but should return it before payday. I need to be more careful over the next week or so in case she doesn't. Although I also ate fruit and salad the last couple of days - I have had some pains - so don't know if that's because I ate too much fat or if I ate too fast or something. I need to be more careful. The MnS food Friday all had added cream and butter and I had lamb... then there was also the cake... and an ice cream etc. I'll therefore eat some home made roasties with chicken etc today.
I need to finish putting together the lawnmower and the strimmer and then use them - and finish setting up the raised beds. I'm considering leaving room for future steps however - so may not block in the entire wall as I originally envisaged otherwise I block access to the upper terrace and make it impossible/harder for anyone to keep it under control. My bedroom also feels out of control - so I need to tidy that and do the washing - and put clean bedding on the bed.
I may also go to an NT property for a wander - and just to feel part of society... Or go to a local park instead - in which case I may not be as restricted on time slots. Or I'm tempted to go swimming - but am at least an hour away from where I want to go - and it would use up most of the afternoon... and I can't seem to book online as their site is struggling...
Tomorrow I could do with ringing my bank travel ins company to see if I can get pancreatitis cover just in case.

Sorry to hear about the relative.
Hopefully the stress of your job situation will ease one way or another. It would be worth looking at current vacancies to see what is about and whittle down the type of roles you'd like.
For a short course it's unrealistic to suggest such expense. Don't rule out the w0rks, h-craft and other places for equipment.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Thanks MF - I totally agree on the art materials. I already have a lot anyway... Just there is always something you don't have and are therefore tempted by. I do feel the lack of a step by step art course which assumes no knowledge..
Had the course again tonight. It went okay. I wasn't great - but I struggle with negative space and showing different tonal values. We were using different types of charcoal. It was still good to be completely absorbed in something else. I parked at the venue today too so no parking fee which was nice. I had been comparing myself negatively to someone who it turned out had a masters in art and design - so that made me feel much better once I realised that.
Came back and had MnS leftovers.
The routine operation for a younger relative went fine which is a huge relief. Biopsies for the other relative are later this week.
I have a phone medical appointment tomorrow. I have a dentist appointment Wednesday and will then go into work. I'm off Friday to go and see DS and then go together to a wider family event the next day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Interesting how we always seem to find someone we perceive to be better than us to compare ourselves too.Good that you are continuing with the art course- I suppose learning new techniques will take you to the edge of your comfort zone.3

So sorry to hear re the relative - maybe they can do a celebration of life as a way to have some joy whilst they still here and everyone can start to process
- Guardian article about how some people have done it is called ' (havent linked- just the title)I didn’t realise I was so loved’: the people hosting their own ‘living funerals’
Enjoy the art course and the library card - the small joys that make a full life
Art is very personal and of course some have more technique but that neither invalidates your work nor indeed not make it special and a joy to view and to create
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
