Banks terms may well include details of ID documents they may require but in practice, across the dozen or so tactical switches I've made over the past 5 years, I've never once been asked for anything.

I think provided you have a credit file that's accurate, and you're on the electoral roll, then banks can typically verify your identity electronically without having to resort to asking for bits of paper. Not guaranteed, but worth trying, especially as suggested above via a 'burner' account
Its not me thats the problem, its the wife B)
She has no credit history( and refuses a credit card) and it usually fails to identify her

And yet... funnily... it somehow ends up becoming your problem again 🤣

She doesn't need a credit card to have a credit reference file. A normal current account suffices. Are you sure she is unknown to all thre credit reference agencies?

No I dont know. She has her own bank account but had it along time before the current checks. She also has a joint account with me which is the one I was going to transfer.
I need to sort out the passport as the next step now
    Thanks
