Sorry to bring a sense of realism in here, but you don't own your own home yet. You will own it when the money you've borrowed is paid back.
I know this better than most. After taking on an extra mortgage to improve and extend our previous home, we looked forward to that magical day of real completion, 30 years on from buying the first house. Sadly, in the very month our last payment was made, an annuity my father took out on his property became due, so payments continued for another 18 months, though fortunately, not at the 9% his lender wanted to charge!
Being Boomers, we had some considerable advantages over people starting out now, but staying on that proverbial ladder wasn't easy. Some fell off. One of them, Brian, has just walked past my window with his dog. At 70, he's a little younger than me and once owned racehorses. Now, he's in a cramped, damp, 1-bedroom flat he rents, which can't be helping his arthritis.
The great feeling you're having now is well remembered, and the even greater feeling when it's finally yours is something to look forward to, but we shouldn't forget the Brians. Some were never likely to own anything substantial, and others simply made a few bad choices, but all of us deserve better than many receive. A tower block, like 500 other tower blocks, isn't the answer. People had better visions of the future than that after WW2, and the evidence is all around. Towers are where this lot wants to put them, and you, given half a chance. I'm sure it will be lovely in their 15 minute cities, but I still have choices.

Congratulations - I know from recent experience that moving from the insecurity of a private rental to the (relative) security of owning your home is a lovely feeling.

That's OK; feel free to interpret it any way you like. Personally, I think we all deserve the sense of security you were talking about when you said, "Lots of people wont share this joy." but maybe it was me who got it wrong?

Congratulations on completing. I'm slowly heading that way too, but a while to go yet.
