Garden room overhang

millie said:If it is within 2 metres of the boundary {which it is) you need planning permission. We have had a few by us do this and it did not come within the permitted development rules.Depends on the height and whether permitted development rights have been removed. There may also be covenants limiting what can be built in the garden, but that is a separateissue to planning.@c@cazasjohnston You are the client paying for the build. You get to decide how close it is the the fence. So what if it took the builder to level the base first time round. It is going to take him a lot longer to do it now that the walls & roof is up.

That’s what I said, if I need to move it, it’s going to take him a lot longer and more money, it’s not betspoke. He gave me a price for 5x4 garden. I was at work when he started. When I came he had the base done already, I voiced my concerns then that it was to close to the fence and I couldn’t get around for maintenance, he said it took him 2 hours to level and would weigh a tonne so couldn’t be moved. Do I hold back the money until I speak to the person that’s moving in?1

It’s only that corner he was saying he could cut it off but can’t do it just now as he needs to order new materials. I’m worried it’s going to look silly0

How do I get email notifications when I’ve had a reply?0

Do you have 'Legal Protection' included in your house policy? If so, call them up for advice.
Write out a short a concise outline of the issue;
Xth Nov 'came home, base in place, concerned about location, mentioned concerns, he replied...'

Now that the cladding is on, it is going to be a lot more difficult to move. Not impossible, but will take some creative thinking... Place a coupe of long scaffold deals on the ground, jack up each corner and insert a skate, then push it out of the way. Prepare a proper base, then maneuver the building back in to place.Did something similar when I needed to move a 10x6 shed, but I already had a concrete pad for it to sit on, and just needed some rollers underneath to move it.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

How much did that cost?
