SEARCH is actually much worse at the moment.

It is currently finding threads posted after approx 5:30pm on 20/11, but nothing from before then!

(I hope this is because it is in the process of rebuilding the database - we shall see tomorrow morning)

Yes, our providers initiated a reindexing process yesterday early evening, which meant that the newest content became visible in the search, but older content isn't findable in search till the indexing process fully catches up.

Please do keep your observations about search and notifications coming, as it helps us to understand the current state of play (and corroborate [or otherwise] what we see at our end).

No change since yesterday evening.

I am using the following as my test search.

It is searching for "win" - for threads on the main Competitions Time forum (sub-forums NOT selected)

At 12:30pm on 21/11 it is finding 53 threads, the oldest of which is 5:30pm on 20/11.

The whole forum is 88pages - so approx 1760 threads, so this search should find at least 1500 threads.

The "53" count is slowly increasing as new threads are posted after 12:30pm 21/11

Thanks @One-Eye  - for me, your example search is oscillating between 55 and 440 results, so there is some variation.

55 is correct due to 2 new threads since 12:30pm. I think the 440 is forum wide.

Ah - I see why the difference now - it's because the filtering by board doesn't persist in the URL, so if you refresh the results page, you get results from the whole forum

Our providers are now rebuilding the search index again, so the time frame covered by search should now be increasing rapidly.

@One-Eye's  search just returned 1.7k responses for me. So could be just about fixed.

Search is now OK.

1.7k threads found using "win" search above which is what it should find, and 232.4k with sub-categories added in.

"MD" finds 293 live comps and 14.9k with sub-categories added in - which again is what is expected.

I also received notifications of the latest posts on this thread so that looks OK as well.

Problem now solved. Thanks to everyone for their efforts.

PS. It's only a suspicion, but it seems that many of the serious problems crop up on a Friday evening (Friday afternoon in Montreal) which means we suffer throughout the weekend until someone can work on it the following week. Is there some process/update etc happening on Friday that may be leading to these snags?
