I like a balance of having decent Easy Access, regardless of how quick together with EA that is near to being instant. My current bulk EA choices……

Charter Savings - 5.07% - Not quite the highest rate and certainly not instant but a great savings institution.
    Santander - 5.08% - Instant.
    Tandem - 5% - Near enough instant.

I have accounts that are empty and instant but rates are far too low, including Atom, Marcus and Zopa. No idea what’s happened to Atom, who seem to have given up trying to be competitive.

They probably had some targets for how much money to draw in, market share etc and have reached those targets.

    Ok why ?.
How often do you need money is 5 seconds or 1 hour.

I like near instant access but it’s not a necessity.
I have regular savers, isa’s that I can access in a few day with low penalties and easy access.
In over 50 year I’ve never needed thousands of pounds in 3 minutes.
If the worst comes to the worst I bang on my credit card.

If you like to make the most of your money you will keep as much as possible in the highest interest accounts. I keep most of mine in Chase savings. I keep a smaller amount in Chase current. So if suddenly I need to spend more than is in my current I need instant (like now!) money moved from Savings to current.

Another advantage with FD and having both current account and emergency savings accounts with them is that if you don't have internet nor mobile phone data connectivity to make a transfer, you can phone them and get the transfer done. Will be instantaneous once you get through.
I know this is available with many other banks, but just saying.Edited to add: is speaking to someone available with all the banks and savings providers listed in this thread? No idea myself.

Marcus was very fast, but I am now using Skipton Building Society which is quick on working days, and also gives me branch access.
  • I have a Marcus account for the very reason you’re asking about.
It’s always very fast to withdraw to your linked account (pretty much instant in fact)
Rates aren’t brilliant right now (they used to be) but I keep a couple of grand in there just for emergencies.

How do you guys get Marcus to be instant?

For me they sometimes are but some times I'm in to the next day.

I have Chase for the reasons you state.Plus cashback.
I use Santander for instant access and the near best rate.
I hold 20-30 savings accounts most with £1, so I can take advantage of any existing saver offers.
Just took out Gatehouse & YBS easy access.
On the last day of the month I distribute my regular saver funds to my 5 savers.
