I’m looking for advice on how to proceed.
I was delay 5.5 hours about a year ago (it’s taken a long time to get to this point).
CAA have rules in my favour.
I’m familiar with LBA etc. but I’m sure about whether there is a UK entity here.

    my questions are
should I contact them first and ask them to pay now the CAA have found in my favour?
if not does anyone know how I proceed with this company. Presumably they are bound by the compensation law as they operate here but is there an entity in the uk I can pursue of so I need to pursue them abroad?

    thanks in advance
Please can you let me know how you got on with this, our flight was cancelled last week due to technical difficulties and I'm struggling to get a response from the airline re CAA rules

I am using a no-win no fee company and they are getting no response from the airline, so it's still with them.
For me this is a no-brainer as it cost me nothing if they fail and I get the impression that they can do quite a bit in an automated fashion without it costing them much as they have templates and legal knowledge on hand.

It's taken a LONG time to get this far though, holiday was September 2022.

You should expect a very long wait and little help from the airline. The only communications I have from them is to say it's "exceptional circumstances" and when asked to justify they won't.

I'm pursuing it because I do a lot of fundraising for charity and I could do a lot of good with the money so I'm prepared to plough on, but they have no UK office and taking action is Sri Lanka is very difficult (if you're in the UK) so I'm prepared to leave it in the hands of the no-win no-fee people.

I think it's disgusting that they won't obey the law in the countries they operate but to be honest it probably wouldn't stop me savings thousands on flights in the future with cheaper airlines, so it would not have changed my decision.

UPDATE: they finally paid up 🎉

Yes it’s been a long time and the lawyers took a Chunk (as I can’t feasibly go to Sri Lanka) but I won.
thats the second time recently when others on here were overly negative.

People on here can only give you their opinion.

It is not with any more authority than asking your friend or your next door neighbour.

  • Have you considered going back to the CAA? Here is the AI response to 'CAA enforce compensation payments'
The CAA has a role in enforcing passenger rights, including compensation for flight disruptions... The CAA can take action against airlines that fail to meet their obligations, including pursuing enforcement actions and fines. They also provide guidance to consumers on how to claim compensation and what to do if they are not satisfied with their airline's response.

Once again, AI is plausible but incorrect. While the CAA PACT team will take up cases with the airline, they do not issue sanctions or rule on whether cases quality for compensation
