How much do you pay for dog grooming?

  • I pay £35 every 8 weeks which is half what I pay for my own hair! My groomer does a fantastic job and she looks like a show dog, well for 10 minutes! I am in Warwickshire.

£45, in Plymouth every 12 weeks.  Having read back I realise this is more than anyone else has said.  I adopt older dogs and they often arrive in a bit of a state physically, and always emotionally.  The groomer I use is wonderful with them and all of them go in very trepidatiously the first time and most don't want to leave when they come out.
One of them had to be sedated by a vet when in rescue just to trim the fur between his toes - he'd had enough of whatever they were doing to him by then and I'm pretty sure they were being really gentle with him.  I have to add, he stank when I adopted him so whatever they did, they didn't bathe him.
The two most recent, both cockers, had/have chronic separation anxiety and are the most highly strung of all the dogs I've had over the years, and the groomer is incredibly gentle with them.  I don't try and do what she does because in the early stages of adoption it's important they learn to trust me without me doing anything they find invasive or too intimate.
Is she worth it?  Absolutely.  After lockdown there was confusion over an appointment and being desperate I took the dog elsewhere.  Within a couple of weeks I was back at the old groomer's because the new one hadn't clipped all the fur behind the dog's ears, with the result she grew dags there.  Little finishing touches.

    Better is good enough.

Hi Everyone, I teach dog grooming courses and am looking at the hours i offer to my students. I currently teach 9.30-4.30, but i am considering also offering a 10.00-14.00 but not sure how viable it would be. Would love any opinions as to whether you think the latter option may be a good idea :) Thank you

I think you would do far better by starting a new thread because this is buried in an existing one that is not totally relevant

  • £40 here in Worcestershire.  Our groomer is mobile and comes to our home - she has a van where the dog is groomed.  She does plug into our electricity.  However, she does take great care and it often takes her 3 hours.  When I go outside I can hear her talking really nicely to our dog.  He loves her.

A lot of these groomers work on a production line and years ago I took our other dog to a groomer (never saw inside as it was during the pandemic).  Immediately afterwards my dog started being aggressive (just growling) to other dogs so that was a bit of a coincidence.
