getting annoyed with most of the displayed "recommendations" being either paid or free-ad or something else.

I guess it's to cover up that Amazon aren't actually providing much content themselves

Yep. Amazon Prime has definitely gone downhill imo.

I didn't renew earlier this year.
    1. Because of the annual price increase from £79 to £97, really, 25% ish increase?
    2. The Prime Video content contained nothing that I wanted to watch. Anything that did appeal and decent had to be paid for.
They initially offered a week's Prime for 99p, now escalated to 30 days free.
If there was anything I wanted in a hurry or something decent to watch then I would possibly take up the 30 days offer and immediately cancel the continuation.

I do still have prime, I like the delivery service but I agree there’s very little free contact on the TV side that is still free that I’m interested in.

Amazon are getting pricey, I do still think I’ll reconsider when my renewal is up as I am making a real effort to cut back on un necessary purchases.

Kindle unlimited has gone the same way. I used to subscribe occasionally when it was £7.95 a month and was always offered incentives to stay like 3 months for the price of 1 , or half price for 6 months. It shot up to £9.75 and not an offer to be had now , I’ve even phoned and asked if there is any offer and they just keep saying it’s selected accounts only, and it’s been about 18 months now since I’ve had any offer at all. I did relent back in September, paid for a months sub as a lot of new books were out in various series that I was reading. Read as many as I could in the month, the day before my month expired downloaded the full 20 books I was allowed , and I’m fine now as long as I don’t connect to wi fi. When I’ve finished the current 20 books, which will be soon , I’ll send them all back and I have some free ones waiting to download. I’ll probably do the same next year before my big holiday where I read a lot.

I’d be interested to see what the figures are now for subscriptions to both Prime and Kindle unlimited. I know a lot of people who cancelled Prime, and don’t currently know anyone that subscribes to kindle unlimited.

It's almost all science fiction series and not very good ones either.

I watch Amazon Prime regularly but certainly not science fiction as I donlt like it.

Obviously you can't please everybody all of the time.
