Proposed Change to Comps Boards

I like it how it is now - easy access to those sub-forums1

Thanks for asking for our opinionsI like how it is at the moment because I click through each of the sub threads I'm interested in to open in a new tab and then scroll down. It wouldn't be a deal breaker if it changed though. One thing I think would be useful (it might already be possible, but I don't know how if so) is to be able to filter the main comp board and advent board by 'entered/skipped' button. This would especially be useful for advents if I could filter so I don't have to scroll through the pages of comps I've 'skipped'. You could have a filter for 'all' (entered, skipped, not marked), and then also separate ones for entered, skipped, not marked. This would also be excellent for finding comps you may have missed on the main board if it's busy or you've been away from comping for a short while and want to catch up!2

I am quite happy with the way things are now and it only takes a few seconds anyway to get to where I want to be. I have competition time saved to my favourites so when I log in it takes me straight there.1

Re subthreads headings, I also really like how it is now as they're always easy and quick to find and I don't think there's any onerous scrolling involved.
One thing that might be helpful would be to have the page numbers/arrows at the top of the main comps board as well as on the bottom (on Android phone).2 -
I'm easy either way, currently works fine for me, but the new proposal doesn't look like a problem either.1

Hi everyone
Thanks for all the feedback so far
I mentioned that I would revisit this in January.
My thinking is to leave this for a bit longer. Firstly, because there isn't an overwhelming consensus that Compers want this change, but also because at some point this year more options will be made available to us for the positioning and style of subcategories. This could include a unique page format just for the Compers board that works better than the usual defaults.
As there may be much better options available, it makes sense to wait.Freelikeabird said:

Hi again everyone.
I just wanted to post on this thread and raise the possibility of doing this in the near future. And ask again for your thoughts and feedback
Apart from the advantages perviously mentioned, there is a possibility that removing the sub-boards from the main Comps category would help us make some improvements -- Help us put a system in place to much earlier and more efficiently move expired comps (by Admin and possibly even Ambassadors).
- We would have the space to split the Announcements into their own widget and out of the flow of the competitions.
- Updates to the tagging system will make a previous suggestion much more useful - "and" and "or" options have recently been added to the Search page, and Category-specific tags will be available in the future.
(But tagging is a discussion for the future and only if it's something our Compers will find useful)

If you asked what feature compers want more than anything, it would be that when there are search results you can see what is skipped/entered and even 'skip' them from the search results. That was a major blow when you changed the forum and that stopped working and one of the main reasons so many compers stopped using the site and went elsewhere. The sub-boards are not an issue for me, quite happy with how they are.5
