Proposed Change to Comps Boards

Personally i like it as is, its not exactly difficult to scroll a little to get to the main comps

I don't think it's already been asked but if it was to be changed like you have mentioned would that mean that it would make space for more posts on each page on the competition time board?

Only just seen this thread. I quite like the sound of the new idea. Would be good to cut down on the scrolling. And I like the idea of being able to tick which section/s to search on.

As well as waiting for the new year to implement any changes, if it is at all possible, would you consider trialling it on some volunteer seasoned compers before rolling it out to the rest of us?

As requested. I'll revisit this in the new year. 

One feature I don't personally find to be user-friendly is that if you search the parent category, it will return no results unless you tick 'Search Subcategories' - similar to searching our current "Shopping and Freebies" section 

This is probably technically correct behaviour, but I have let our provider know that it makes much more sense if the Search Subcategories box is auto-checked if you're searching a category that can contain no posts.

I'll continue to investigate our options. 

@Blulu I'm afraid trialing this on volunteers isn't an option because there's no ability to make these kind of change only effect a subset of users.

If there's a sub category for things like Advents , would then a sub category for the MD category of competitions might also be useful.   ?

...and for those of us who work soley on a Tablet or mobile, we would be back to having to scroll down anyway!

I'm agreeing with those who say it's fine as it is - you just get used to scrolling past the other boards to reach the comps. Also as it currently is, you can immediately see the other board titles and access them, rather than having them hidden away.
