Just to come back to this thread & update -

Sent over £2, withdrew £1 ... worked no problem & don't have card or card reader yet.

So I'll keep the Ulster account.
  • I've been using this account for a while to hold savings, and as I'm set up for biometrics in the app I can transfer back and forth between my current accounts willy-nilly. Without me requesting I've just had their Anytime Banking Card arrive in the post which looks like something for a prepay electricity meter, so it also seems like I'll soon have yet another card reader to clatter around in my desk drawer. If everything is already achievable in the app is there any benefit of this card in online banking?

If at any point your phone breaks/is lost or stolen and you need to access the funds before you can source a new phone you can still access online banking using just the card reader. In this instance it could be handy to keep the card as a failsafe option.
