I can't get any further in the application because I need to pick a branch. No matter how far out I go it comes up with no results.
One of the early screens in the application process highlights the answer:

    Important Information - Please Read

    • During the application process you will be asked to 'find a branch' you will need to key the sort code 980060 and select Belfast City Office. You will need to take a note of this before proceeding.

Belfast. Or any other branch. You don't have to go there.

not be able to withdraw because I'm waiting on a card reader turning up for a card I don't even have (yet).
If you have a card reader from another bank then it should work. I've used different ones in the past without problems
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I'm pretty sure I read as part of the application that if you're not from Ireland or whatever then you should just select Belfast City Office.

That's what I selected & they accepted it fine enough.

EDIT - didn't realise there was a page 2 with the answer.

I do have a card reader from elsewhere.

    I just have no card.

Should have opened a current account and you would have been able to use the app and not require a card reader to operate the account  the account was opened on application no delay

Opened one with Cynergy last night. 7 days tops (allegedly) and should be fully functional. Which will probably still be quicker than Ulster. I'll shut Ulster down.

  • I did a test withdrawal from Ulster using the app and I didn't need the card or reader.

Suppose it can't harm things. Maybe it's for a current account and this is just an auto generated message. Il find out tonight. Thanks.
