Asda home delivery emergency

  • UPDATE no 2

Well, shopping arrived as promised, but everything was covered in cream, which (to add insult to injury) wasn't even mine! Oh well, everything mopped up OK, 'only' 5 things missing, and 5 (completely unsuitable) substitutions. NO apology, NO offer of compensation, NO free box of chocs, NO offer of free delivery even.

When I rang the call centre (YES, it is in South Africa!!) they said 'Sorry for your SIXTEEN HOUR delay, here have a free delivery evoucher!' AS IF I'll ever use Asda again! They suggested I call the store again if I wasn't happy with their offer, & I'm STILL awaiting a call back from the store.

I've ended up having to go into town this morning, to replace the missing/unsuitable items, and defeated the object of booking this delivery. I've definitely gone from upset to really quite annoyed through to DOWN RIGHT ANGRY!! I had 2 and a half hours sleep, I've cried buckets and I've been SO upset. Not to mention the people who we were feeding at our dinner party last night.

I WANT COMPENSATION! I will fight this until next Christmas if I must. BUT I won't let it upset me anymore than it already has, and I won't dwell on it for at least two days.

Festive wishes to all from a Christmassy Anansi

  • sorry for your inconveience .....

next time, maybe use a proper comapny :rotfl:

tesco & sainsbury are based in the UK, call centre in the UK

asda should be ashamed making someone ring south africa about a delivery

keep plugging for compensation as that service is ridiculous

  • agreed on the terrible standard of service, I'm just glad I've yet to bother trying this home delivery lark.

when complaining, point out the stress (as noted by previous posters) and time you've spent on this - they should be compensatin you similar to an average hourly wage if you'd been doing this for work, IMO. and make sure you take full names of the people you speak to - ppl always think you wont persue it so try to fob you off, but once you put them under pressure its surprising how quickly they take you seriously. emphasise the particular stress of this happening at xmas too, cos they'll probs try to downplay/overlook that otherwise.

tesco's CS desks have always been good with me (even one time in uni when I'd maxed out my card and had to go home and get my flatmate to come back with me to pay the bill, lol), but I don't know about asda - if you know any drivers you could always push for a free shop in store (cos the delivery service is so unreliable) and plan it for when your cupboards are empty so you can stock up.

thats very bad service i hope u r ok now, i always shop(except for gammon!) at sainsburys they offer £10 if late and are generally very good, i was to scared to risk a home delivery because of the risk of them giving me the wrong stuff, i tackled sainsburys at 10am yesterday and got everything but salted peanuts????(got the in off licence), please dont let it ruin xmas, just be relieved it actually turned up and yes you had to go out, thats so not how it should have been, but u didnt have the minefield of waiting for a refunded card payment thankfully, gladu r ok now, x toni

  • Well. my attempt to do my weekly shop with Asda has turned out to be a TOTAL DISASTER !!
I log in to check my order the day before delivery and find out that my Xmas turkey has been removed !!
No email or phone call to tell me !!!
After spending ages on the phone to customer service, they blame the store [newton abbot in Devon ] So after another half hour she connects me to my local store, Newton something or other IN SCOTLAND !!! YES, SCOTLAND !! ONLY A FEW HUNDRED MILES AWAY. Getting no help at all from home shopping help dept I phone the store myself [the correct store Newton Abbot in DEVON] and get the problem solved pleasantly.
Next I log in to add my Asda credit card which I had just received in order to pay with that card BUT, I NOW DISCOVER MY WHOLE ORDER AND DELIVERY SLOT HAS BEEN CANCELLED !!!
Call to customer service and yet again, no HELP WHATSOEVER !!
Offered me a delivery 27th Dec [ silly me, I thought thought you bought turkey for the 25th ]
So THANK YOU ASDA, YOU HAVE TOTALLY RUINED MY XMAS FOR 2007 AND MADE A COMPLETE MOCKERY OF MY ATTEMPT TO SHOP WITH ASDA.
Above is a copy of one of the many emails I have sent to them in last 2 days,
Offered a measly £10 voucher for compensation !!

    that's R dog that is

It was Huddersfield store unfortunately. I'll be on the phone again to them next week- for as long as it takes- I'm absolutely shattered & will be in bed within the hour no doubt!!

I feel OK about it all now- it certainly won't ruin my Xmas. I'll keep you all informed about how Asda try and put this right (and the price they put on a customer's Christmas sanity LOL!!)

Have they no grasp on what Christmas is like for their customers (other than how it enables them to get their tills tinkling???)

Best wishes to you & good luck with your turkey & shopping hunt. I hope you manage to enjoy your Day without the help of Asda!!
  • UPDATE AGAIN...

Well, after a few phone calls to the store to explain the impact ASDA has had on my Christmas, I've been offered a £20 voucher card. Hmmm. Yes, £20. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I keep thinking "£20? for all those tears, ruined party & no sleep?" Oh well. It seems so long ago now that I just accepted it, as the apology that came with the phone call was very nice too. :o

I hope everyone else had as lovely a Christmas as we went on to have!!
