Asda home delivery emergency

Options
I'm STILL waiting for a shopping delivery from ASDA- it should have arrived yesterday & contains ALL MY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY'S SHOPPING. I even had to cancel a dinner party last night as the food was part of the order.

I'm waiting for their 'customer services' department to open at 8am to hear their excuses. I made several phone calls last night to be repeatedly told 'Yes, we will be delivering your order tonight'. Ha! Oh no they didn't.

Now I'm faced with:
  • hanging around today (if they tell me they'll deliver it today) despite having travel plans, or
  • accepting a cancellation & EVENTUALLY getting a refund (my accounts already been debited). This'll mean going overdrawn AND spending hours fighting through the supermarket queues AND getting a taxi home (as I don't drive).
Oh, woe is me

Any suggestions on how I should deal with this one? I'm tearing my hair out here & I haven't slept for worrying.

  • Personally if it was me I would be asking them to call up my nearest ASDA and give me credit in that shop as would not wait just incase you are left with nothing.
Remember do not shout and scream as I know you may feel like doing that be polite, tell them you have ruined a dinner party last night and you are about to ruin xmas with your terrible service etc etc etc.
Oh and you want compensation for the stress you have caused

    HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUTx

What a remarkably GREAT idea! I'll be on that phone at 8am with this suggestion. I'm so tired that I doubt I'll have the energy to be hostile. The only unfortunate part is that the store is 8 miles and two bus journies from me. Oh well, I don't suppose I have anything else to do today *trying to stop from crying wink*

Im sorry to hear that, when you speak to customer services, make sure you take the name of the person you speak to. If you have no luck in getting a proper explanation, ask to speak to a team leader or supervisor. Usually they try and fob you off by saying there is no one available to talk to when you want to complain but what they have done to you in unacceptable especially at this time of the year.Goodluck and hope it gets sorted for you

Thank you. I'm beside myself this morning- NOT how I envisaged spending my Christmas Eve. I've checked my freezer, & it looks like we'll be having mushroom quiche and sweetcorn for Christmas dinner (8 of us) unless this all pans out OK.

I've at least managed to find their freephone number via saynoto0870.com- that was just adding insult to injury- paying to sit on hold for 10 minutes!!

I'll let you know how it goes... only five minutes to wait... tick tock...

Asda have done this to me in the past too - as their customer service is in South Africa I doubt they have any idea whether your order was going to be delivered or not (they told me the same thing, oh yes it'll be delivered - 10pm? doubt it) Anyhow. get them to give you the telephone number of the branch that does the home shopping, call them to speak to the manager to discuss your order as you'll get a better response from the store. don't let them fob you off either if it's like mine, the order had been picked and sat there all night so the bread etc wasn't fresh & they had the cheek to say there was no milk!

Don't let them just give you a credit back to your card (unless you've got plenty of money in to cover the shopping already) as it will take up to 3 days to be credited back to your card, I know there's no way I could afford to do this as I'd be left with nothing at all, but I guess if you've got money already you're ok.
  • UPDATE:

After ringing the call centre I was told, 'someone tried to deliver your shopping, but you weren't in, & noone answered the phone.' I was told someone from the delivery store would phone me to reorganise delivery. I said that wasn't good enough & asked for the store number (thanks samf1971). When I phoned them, they said the driver couldn't find us.

Anyway, much discussion (with me choked & almost crying) followed. The short version of events means that, as I type, a member of staff from the shop floor is whizzing his way here with our shopping.

Nothing was mentioned about compensation, I'll see what happens when it arrives. To be honest I'm just relieved it's on its way. I'm sure I'll get past the upset, shocked, relieved part, towards righteous indignation!!! But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Christmas is back on in Anansi's house! HURRAY! Thanks to everyone for their posts- I didn't feel quite so alone & miserable.

Has your shopping arrived yet? Hope that you managed to get everything. Did they give you compensation?

Dont speak to me about Asda online!!!!!!!!!
Booked mine for 2-4 saturday. 4.30 no shopping, rang them up and was told van broke down and were running 1.5 hours late. Fair enough. It finally turns up at 6.30, his printer was broke so no paperwork, so didnt know if anything was missing  . Smirnoff ice was in a zillion broken pieces.
Putting it away and noticed somethings were missing, so had to print out my original iorder from the PC and tick everything off. About 30 things missing!!!!!!!!!!! £50 of a £150 order was missing. Rang them and whilst on hold told my OH to shoot me if I ever used them again.
Got through to CS and all the things were "unavailable". Eggs? Fairy liquid? onions? what - none in the whole shop???????????????????????????
She gave me 4 vouchers for free delivery - no thanks i'm not using you ever again.
The whole point of this delivery was so i didnt have to go through the trauma of shopping 2 days before christmas, so I ended up in Morrisons yesterday morning anyway:mad:  .

Hope you get yours sorted OK
