HSBC £205 offer security number

Hello

I am just asking that if anyone opening an account received their telephone six digit security number letter. If so can I assume the number is hidden at the bottom of the page under the security peel off tab - the reason I am asking is that my peel off tab is blank - not even a vague outline of a number....

    Same here for both me & my OH.  I assume they have a faulty batch.  I tried to contact them but they were busy and I haven't tried again, but I will now.
  • Thanks for the info - I thought I was missing something - good luck when you get through - the conversation went around in circles for a while as they couldn't help me without the security number which was why I was calling!

    Sorted! I did online chat to get the number to call: 03457 404 404.  That connected me to an automated service that asked me for part of my code, I said "I do not have my telephone security code" and then remained silent - fairly quickly I was transferred to an operator who sorted it out for me by enabling me to set a code of my choosing and also set up voice verification.

  • I've had the same problem: letter arrives with a plastic tab, but there's no number on the plastic tab or on the paper underneath the plastic tab. I spent ages looking at it to try and work out if I was missing something obvious :/ 
  • Someone else here with the same problem! I phoned them and set up my online banking number over the phone - very easy, but it shouldn't be necessary.

    Just had a similar problem. I was unsure if the tab did not contain a number or if it was extremely difficult to read. I am inclined to think it was just extremely hard to read. AnywayI did get through and they allowed me to set my own numbr.

    Incidentally that letter arrived today, well over a week since I opened the account.
  • Still waiting for my second telephone security letter so I called HSBC again - after pressing the various security options the line cut off - tried again, success, spoke to a very helpful lady and all sorted, my choice of telephone security number and voice id.
    I already transferred £1500 into the account and used the debit card five times.
    Have downloaded the app, transferred over £250 to the global money account and ordered the card.
    Let's see what happens next ...

    Don't forget you also need to make 5 payments from the global money account - you can add it to Apple Pay from the HSBC app so you don't have to wait until the physical card arrives.

    I was pretty sure you needed to make the card payments with the physical card & you can't use apple pay?  For the advanced account & global account - correct me if i'm wrong.
