BA - Delayed Flight, Missed Connection & Changed Airport

Options
Looking for some guidance on this - we were on a delayed flight from St Lucia back to Glasgow via Gatwick. Booked through a travel agent on a through ticket with same booking number. Our flight from St Lucia was delayed for 3 hours due to a technical issue (that's what we were told) and we suspected this would mean we would miss our connection at Gatwick back to Glasgow. We made the crew on the plane aware of this and were told to check the app for any changes to our booking when we landed. We landed a full hour after our flight to Glasgow had departed to find that we had been put on a flight at 1720hrs from Heathrow. We managed to get put on an earlier flight but had still to get to Heathrow from Gatwick.  Our original flight back to Glasgow was due to land at 1155hrs and we finally landed at 1722hrs. From what I can see I am entitled to make a claim as we booked on the one ticket and our final destination is what the delay is based on so that would be 1722hrs instead of 1155hrs ? Can anybody confirm this is correct and if so what rules do I claim under - the EU ones or the UK ? Thanks
