To change m3 to kWh the energy company has to know the calorific value of the gas and factor this into the calculation. This value changes daily so when they send a bill it calculates the average calorific value over the charging period. This is why electricity is instant and gas can take a little longer to be billed/calculated.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Being only £114 in credit in Autumn and long before the real cold weather isn't very. Taking the money out now could be leaving you short in a few months time.1socrates1 said:It seems that Octopus are able to take proper 1/2 hour readings again. But I am in £114 credit and when I try ask for a partial refund it says I am unable to do so. Surely if they are able to do the readings, they are are also able to ascertain what my total readings is for both electricity and gas, and therefore able to issue the refund and furthermore for my account to go back to normal?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I will keep the £114 in the account, I am not desperate for it. As you said should help cover Winter.1
