Siemens dishwasher whirring but no lights coming on

At this point I think you have 3 options:
1. Try a programme. If it leaks then move to option 2 and 3.
2. Get a repair company out although likely have to pay for their call out, time and parts.
3. Replace it with new. 9 years is a good lifetime for an appliance. It may be more economical than getting a repair company out.1 -
So water came out when you turned it over. There is a leak then. If it now works ok you can use it again but eventually water will leak again and the same thing will happen. Could be next week, could be next year, could be never! I wouldn't spend money repairing it.
Just to add - the base is like a bowl and when there is a leak the bowl fills up, a float rises and switches on the pump and everything else off, you won't flood the house.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1 -
Have run a normal wash cycle, and everything was ok. At least I now have an idea of what to do if it does it gain. Thanks to everyone who responded and particularly EssexExile for identifying the problem.1

Well, that didn’t last long!! It has now started leaking, so have had to buy a new one. As we are going to do a major kitchen refurb next year, have gone for a cheapish one, which will end up going in our, still to be built, utility room.

Oh well, it was worth a try. My first dishwasher was a cheap Hotpoint and it lasted about 20 years. My current dishwasher is a Bosch (same as Siemens) and hasn't been perfect since the day I bought it!Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

Funny you say that, we’ve gone for a Hotpoint as well. Coming next week, so we’ll limp along till then. Horror of horrors, we might even need to wash by hand!!EssexExile said:Oh well, it was worth a try. My first dishwasher was a cheap Hotpoint and it lasted about 20 years.
