!!! Soft99 Ultra Glaco Glass Coating Water Repellent - Huge Mistake !!!
Hi.
I applied the Glaco Glass Coating Water Repellent to my windscreen and driver and passenger side windows approximately 3 months ago thinking the rain would run off fast and smooth. My experience has been the complete opposite. The water beads up and remains on the glass and it severely impedes my ability to see. I just shouldn't have done it but I did.
I need to get it off but it is very persistent. I've tried boiling water with a scouring pad but it does nothing. The other two rear windows are so much better and clear in and after the rain. Bad mistake that is pretty dangerous, especially moving into the winter.
I'm hoping that you might have a better idea than boiling water as it's not working.
I won't try that again in the cold 'cos I'll just crack my windscreen, never mind the side windows.
I'm going to get a back windshield wiper tomorrow morning so I'll ask them.
Would just appreciate any advice if you can, cheers, Ste.

You could have seriously damaged your windows using a scouring pad, I'd hate to see what a low winter sun will look like now.
If it is beading then it is working but if you are not driving fast enough for the slipstream to clear the side windows that's the problem.
Unless you can find a specific chemical to remove it without damaging other parts you'll just have to wait until it wears off naturally.

I use a similar product but not on the windscreen.
I thought they also did a remover but i can't find it.
Maybe try vinegar0 -
Surgical alcohol might do the job.1

It might be some sort of silicon compound, in which case the ‘panel wipe’ solvent they use for preparing car panels for painting should get it off. You can often get packets with an impregnated cloth rather than buying a whole bottle of solvent. Just check they remove silicone residues. Although as said earlier, you may already have ruined your winscreen by using the scourer. I did that once and learned my lesson on the first low sun drive1

Wind window down & up will remove the beading 👍Life in the slow lane0

I've never heard of that product, but the repellants I do use need reapplying 3-4 times a year as they do wear off.0

Autoglym Windscreen Polish - not to be confused with Autoglym Fast Glass - which is only a screen cleaner.
Fast Glass is good but it won't shift what you have.
I too would not have risked boiling water and scouring pads

Thanks so much for all these ideas. I think I got away with the scourer, to be honest, no scratches of any kind, I got lucky. The speed note to get it moving makes sense but I'm gonna work down the list of suggested products and be glad of the advice!
Defo bookmarking this page.
This is a brilliant forum and you've all been more than helpful, I really appreciate it.
I hope you're having a great day, all the best, ste.1 -

In over 40 years of driving and 100s of thousands of mile I have never felt the need to apply any of these products to a windscreen , partly because of the issues you now face
anyways have you tried isopropyl1
