Motability car worth it?

You really need to work out if it's going to be cost effective for you to have a motability car.
Is it worth giving up £71 a week? For the amount of miles I do it wasn't.
However, I got a bank loan and after 5 years and £225 a month (paid deposit using my credit card and immediately paid it off with my savings), the car will be mine.
I put the rest of my PIP mobility away for anything not covered by the manufacturers warranty and insurance.
I'm not shelling out for a car that will never be mine. And in 5 years time, I can just repeat using this car as a deposit by either selling it or as a trade-in1 -

Not forgetting, no tax, no insurance or servicing costs as well with Motability
There's no car tax cost anyway because of the mobility award. Unless it's being used for another vehicle.Life in the slow lane0 -

Of course, that goes without saying. There's no automatic entitlement, you have to apply. The same when a vehicle has zero road tax, they still have to tax it.

I use my PIP mobility to rent a bungalow rather than a ground floor flat, as I'm indoors much more than I use a car, so the £2k I've saved this year by not having a Motability car go into that.

We decided not to as we weren't 100 percent on the cars available. We don't have a drive so electric cars were ruled out as they would provide subscription to bp pulse thing but we would have to pre plan our journeys more. Adding a drive would be more cost on top.
Plus my husband realized he is happy with the car he has now.

We opted to buy rather than go down the motability route. Pre reg car with 5 miles on the clock at near 50% off.
For these reasons,
The fickle nature of pip claims and renewals ie finding you fit etc, able to walk with spinal damage, both hips and knees riddled with osteoarthritis.
Confined to a wheels chair. The fact they could take the car back at any moment.
£14,350 for the new car, £1000 a year for insurance, fuel, servicing, warranty and parts.
Around 21k in 7 years. Plus £500 a year for fuel.
About even cost wise compared to motability overall.
But still have a car worth 8-10k.1 -
weve been looking at getting an EV on motabilty, wanted to get the audi q4. but now starting to wonder if its worth it on motabilty. its a 4.5k uprfront fee, and then 3 yr lease, but then i presume when we want to change after 3 years we would have to pay an upfront fee on any future cars....its alot of money for a car we'll never own. so now starting to think it just might not be worth it1

Yes, if there's an AP for any future lease then you would also need to pay that for each lease. Whether it's worth it will depend on what the cost would be without using motability.

If it's worth it or not is a personal decision.

Look at a 3 year lease on same car & compare cost. Could also do the same with PCP if you might want to keep of hand car back.
At from £50K new..
Maybe look at 2nd hand 2023 reg which are in the £30K range on autotrader.Life in the slow lane0
