Motability car worth it?

Options
Hi

I am looking to get a motability car as our hybrid will be 5 years old soon but we do need to pay money towards to get out of the deal. Currently only 900 quid but will hopefully be less when we get a motability car.

My pip ends in 2027 that's if the gov don't change anything.

We were looking to get another car on pcp but the cost is so high even for pre owned We are looking for hybrid car as we don't have drive to do electric points.

Currently we only fuel up once a month and about 40 to 60 quid depending on the tank and where we fuel up.
The car we are looking at has a higher mpg.

I won't need adaptions as my husband will be driving the car. If we ordered the car we could get it in the spring.

We are looking at Yaris cross.

Just wanting to see if the motability is worth it as we do pcp ATM so caf wouldn't be ours anyways.my mother thinks we should keep the car we have but doesn't know we are going to do it via motability scheme.

We currently pay 700 quid for insurance on the car we have now.  I'm thinking the Yaris and with it being brand new it will be higher insurance. We had a service to pay which was about 150 and mot too.

I did see the motability scheme will get rid of no claims bonus for my husband.

I am hoping that my pip would be extended after 2027.

Thank you

I've been with the motability scheme since 2016 and i'm on my 3rd vehicle. For me, it's well worth every penny of my mobility award. It gives me piece of mind to know that if anything goes wrong it will be paid for. The only thing you have to pay is your fuel, as well as your mobility payment. Some vehicles do have an advance payment that needs to be paid before you collect the vehicle.

If you ever did leave the scheme i've heard that some insurance companies will honour the NCD, with a letter from motability insurance, now known as Direct Line.

I think motobility is a great scheme. There is a good choice of vehicles with nil deposit. Personally I'd pick one of those but it's your choice

We want a hybird car as we currently have one and we save a bif of money with that.

The only thing is the car we like would be here in March time 2024 and my pip award ends in August 2027. Yes the forms could arrive earlier and but when the car ends it would be less than a year left on my award
No guarantee my award will be renewed too..

You wouldn't be able to place an order for another lease but you would be able to extend the lease on the car you have at that time. I've always found motability to be extremely helpful.

Yes, there's always a chance your mobility award may not be renewed but that's the chance we always have to take. It hasn't put me off over the years as i still think it's worth every penny.

I have a self charging hybrid and the fuel economy is amazing, i would definitely have another.

There are a few variants of Yaris/Clio hybrids on the nil list

I'm amazed what you can get on the nil list. A Mazda MX30 or BYD thing if you want to go electric - and the BYD is a £37k car. A VW Tcross if you want to stay with petrol.

We just been to dealership for our PCP and they said we would have to pay 2k at this moment in time to clear finance. Then it would be June/July when we can put it in without paying anything to get rid

If we got a car ordered today and take advantage of 750 acp it would be spring time so March April when we could get it. Do that's another 3 months for car finance.

My husband said he wants to wait till March and order it but that would mean paying 2.5k for the car rather than 1.9k as the acp will be gone then. Plus we don't know if the lead times will change.

We would make less back on the car insurance for this car too.

If your PCP is more than the higher rate mobility payment. Then it's a no brainer which is the best way to go.
Not forgetting, no tax, no insurance or servicing costs as well with Motability

There's no car tax cost anyway because of the mobility award. Unless it's being used for another vehicle.

I have a friend who has a Motabilty car, he can’t live without it (he’s a double amputee, both legs).

I think a Toyota Yaris is an excellent choice.  Toyota have an outstanding reputation for reliability.  I bought a 6 year old automatic Yaris last year when I traded in my 20 year old Yaris.  I’ve not had a single problem with either.
