I work in a supermarket and it does my head in when i see all these hands go for food which doesnt have a label on, they think it will disappear if they dont get it first, we get the usual people in everyday i think but i only work saturdays so i only see them once a week, theres a guy who will insist on hanging around where the fresh reduction are and wait for me to reduce the food, dont they have anything better to doNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Fine if you can afford full priced food every day- some of us can't. For some of us, its reduced food, or no food. Simple as that.0 -
I'm not above buying reduced food myself, however I do like to go prepared, shin guards, shoulder pads and stab vest I find are essential when engaging some of the scrums.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Try taking a second look at him this Saturday and ask yourself if he does this because he enjoys it or because he needs to? It just might be this mans way of providing for his family rather than greed. I admit myself to looking down my nose at some of these people in the past it's easy to do if you are lucky enough not to be financialy stressed, however I am a realist and especially so in the current climate, enough to know that should my financial circumstances change for the worse that a carefully timed tour of the local supermarkets would probably cut my weekly food bill by over 75% that can mean the difference between buffet and bailiff for some, perhaps it would be better to view ourselves as fortunate rather than others as unfortunate.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Strangely, the last time I bought stuff with the yellow sticker on; it got scanned in at the orignal price and not the reduced one!!! I only realized this when I looked over the reciept back home!0

Ahh- trick of the experience I think! whenever you shop, check the price reader on the till- even if you buy fruit and veg its a good idea to do this- I once bought some orange and was charged for satsumas- the guy even weighed them- came to well over £7 for what should have been less then £1!0 -

Haha- can see your point- but one really good tip is to simply say please and thank you and excuse me, it doesn't work with everyone (some have earphones on, some don't speak English and some are just too set on that pack of sliced chicken...) but with some- and maybe enough, its enough to have one person oblige and let you have a look at whats going on.
Another is to ask someone if they are in front of you and waiting for something they want to be reduced, "can you please pass me that....(name product) and they will often pass it back to you- just make sure you don't grab it off anyone else who may be waiting patiently for it or trying to pick it up- there is an etiquette and politeness does seem to make a difference0
