Barclays Switch Reward

Is the new switch reward only if you apply through a mobile app? I only do desktop banking. Also I don't want to pay £5 a month. MSE says 'However, you get £5/month cashback if you have 2+ direct debits paying
out each month (these can be the two you switch to get the £175), so the
£5/month fee is essentially waived.' but there is absolutely nothing about this on Barclays website.

The fee is essentially offset (rather than waived) if you fulfill the above. You get charged £5 and £5 put into your rewards wallet (which you can immediately withdraw to your current account should you so wish).
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!3 -

Offer description is here: https://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/switch-offer/
And terms in detail are here: https://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/switch-offer/#1
Also there's a big thread about people's experience and questions here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6482594/barclays-175-switch-offer-new-customers-only-nov-1-30-2023/p1.2 -
As above, see the actual T&Cs from Barclays. It's all very prominent if you read through the full T&Cs of the offer, which you always should.
Yes you need to use the app to both apply for the current account and initiate the switch. And yes, you need to sign up for Blue Rewards on your new current account which has a £5/month fee associated with it.
Once the switch incentive is paid in Dec/Jan (depends on the date you switch) you can turn off Blue Rewards meaning you no longer have to pay the fee, but as described above if you jump through a few hoops you get a £5 monthly reward which offsets it.0 -
How can you apply in the app?
I've downloaded the app but need to register on the app using account debit/credit card details which I don't have as I am not yet a customer.0 -
