Hi I am moving away from nationwide, I stuck with them due to loyalty but their savings offers 4.25% where as there are many over 5%.
Their awful rebranding exercise has made me decide to move!
I have opened virgin 5.12 and virgin cash isa 5.08 i think and put 50k/20k respectively.
I have also opened cahoot and will put in 50k.
I was half tempted to just use virgin as I cant see them going bust in the next year or two.
I will be investing most of the 180k into property in the next year or two.
So what next, I can see paragon, cynergy and close bros has accounts but they arent well known to me.
Also skipton who has a branch in my town.
I just want an easy to set up one to put in another 50k, at least cahoot is santaders online division.
Any recomendations for one more account?

After flitting around with various easy access accounts for a few months, I have settled for 3- they are not the best rates but they meet my needs. The first 2 are almost instant for transfers in and out. I have Marcus by Goldman Sachs and Investec. Investec have minimum £5000 to get interest but it is paid on the whole amount. My other easy access account is Paragon Double Access. All pay interest monthly which is another of my requirements.tiger135 said:Hi I am moving away from nationwide, I stuck with them due to loyalty but their savings offers 4.25% where as there are many over 5%.

After 35 years with Nationwide I am leaving them and switching my current account elsewhere1 -
Well done.
The first jump is the hardest!1 -
Thanks, may I ask why you wanted monthly interest?
Investec is a new one on me.
Nationwide are a joke now, massive adverts saying they arent closing branches like the big banks, but they have closed two branches near me ( Tilehurst, Caversham) in the last few years. Total liars, and terrible new logo.0 -
Whilst I understand how Nationwide adverts & their new logo might not be to everybody's liking.........personally I could care less about them. What's important to me are their products, services & interest rates.

Monthly interest for me simply because it spreads things out over the year. If the interest is left in the account there is no or little difference with annualtiger135 said:Thanks, may I ask why you wanted monthly interest?

I've actively saved with over 50 different savings providers in the past year or so (in this definition I'm excluding accounts that have just been opened with £1 and left alone and accounts used solely for direct debit purposes). They all have their quirks and each have different things I like/dislike about them but I can't recall any of them being especially bad or especially good. I just stick my money in whichever account offers me the highest interest rate that meets my requirements at the time.

Changing logo seems to be a current trend. In my "savings portfolio" three changed their logo - Saffron, Nationwide and OakNorth. All three look better to me than the previous logos, but it's just a matter of taste. I could care less, I'm after best interest rates, I wouldn't make any financial decision based on an image.subjecttocontract said:Whilst I understand how Nationwide adverts & their new logo might not be to everybody's liking.........personally I could care less about them. I've had accounts with Nationwide for a while. My very first savings account was with Nationwide opened in 1991, I still have passbook for this account
Opened current account in Oct 2014 for 5% in-credit interest on balances up to £2,500 for the first year. Later they offered leading rate RS for several years, after a short period of vacuum they followed the "children's account" trend and offered one of the top products of that type. My only credit card I ever had and still have is Nationwide, got it because they were paying cash back and now the use of it reduced to a part of DD arsenal and the tool for car hire abroad. Currently I have 2 savings accounts with Nationwide, Start to Save Issue 2 (5.5%) and Flex Regular Saver issue 2 (8%). If my memory is not failing, not long ago there was an easy switch offer from NW that I took advantage of, and earlier this year 5% cash back on debit card spending. I didn't get their recent £100 bonus because my c/a was idle for too long, there was no warning for it :'(
I'm glad I have membership, maintaining it proved to be profitable.1 -

Close Bros - Do not know
Post office - to be avoided due to archaic systems, poor service etc .
