I think you have to notify your provider and find out calling tariff

Why not get a sim in the country you are going to especially if you don't have a long call list

Nowmobile include EU roaming in their deals. You just need to enable roaming on your phone before going abroad.

Outside of the EU it's chargeable.

In the early days of mobile roaming it was often necessary to request roaming service to be approved and enabled, potential costs being substantial. But these days there's usually no need to do anything for a SIM to roam automatically.
    Evolution, not revolution

No, they are generally set to work internationally these days and you just turn international roaming on/off in your phone. Obviously if you have asked for it to be disabled in the past you'd need to undo this.

If you are travelling to a country not included in your package you will be incurring daily charges (probably) and so just make sure any spending cap you have set is sufficient to take these.

It may or may not be easier/cheaper/quicker to get a PAYG sim in the country you are travelling to

Who is your provider? And how long are you away for? Im sure you can easily check your tariff and allowances on the app of whoever you are with.

I use rwg who rebadge nowmobile sims. No problems with service but not a big user.
Work abroad has two different meanings, calls and texts will need to be connected to a mobile network and most phones will connect automatically but you may need to select (trial and error) the partner network if it doesn't. To use data you will need to set data roaming to on.
Where are you going, for how long, and what amount of data might you need?
