E7 Fusebox

Early this week (Wednesday) my HA swapped my old storage heaters for new Quantum Dimplex. Firm doing the job did not have a part for the E7 fusebox, so had to comeback on Friday to put the fuses in, they still did not have “blanks”, so just used red gaffer tape to cover the spare holes, assume they will be back later (They will be now!). I turned my water heater back on last night, noticed no red light when I needed the loo during the night, so checked the NSHs, obviously the fusebox is still not working. So almost a week having to heat via the Boost option on the new heaters (that are working using that) and normal boost water switch. Hopefully, when I contact the company on Monday they will send someone the same day. Is there a way for them to test the E7 fusebox as the E7 goes off at 7.30 am?

Can you post a picture of your meter and fuse boxes?
As a short term measure to save a bit of electricity you could push the water boost button during the off peak Economy 7 hours. Although the water isn't currently wired up to the Economy 7 fuse box it will still use off peak electricity if you press the boost button during the off peak hours.
All electricity to your property will be at the off peak rate during the off peak hours regardless of which fuse box the appliances are connected to. Unfortunately I don't think that will help with the Quantums because presumably you will want heat from the Quantums during the day time or early evening.
Is it worth complaining to your HA and asking if they will contribute something towards the cost of the peak rate electricity you have had to use for water and the Quantums over the past week? Sounds like their contractors haven't done a very good job!!2 -
Good advice from lohr500 above, I was going to say much the same!

Does each Quantum have one supply cable or two?0

Each QD, (I now have 4 as HA insisted they put one in the small kitchen, they wanted one in the even smaller hallway but sense prevailed when the lads installing told them the only wall was behind the front door and it would not open if it was put there) does have two switches, one off peak, one on, both need to be in the on position, though only the one that is working the Boost is working at present, but both ARE switched on. If you were going to ask if I had them both on.Gerry1 said:Does each Quantum have one supply cable or two?Paddle No 21:wave:1 -

The red gaffer tape is the E7 box. Is there a reason the larger unit does not have the large heater listed, should it have it, I take it that makes no difference to why I am not getting the E7?

That's great, they've done it properly. It's possible to run a Quantum with only one circuit but then there's a serious risk of paying far too much if it's not accurately programmed to match your meter's E7 times (which may not be as expected).GibbsRule_No3. said:

Why is the solar isolator switched off?Living the dream in the Austrian Alps.0

if you happen to be up late enough, press the test button(at the very bottom of them, just above the circuit labels) on one of the RCBO's in the off peak board to see if they trip. if they do that means theres power there, if not, they aren't connected. but I can't see why they would go to all that trouble with the red tape if it wasn't even energised?
they could be powered up with both on peak and off peak but the reason they aren't working is they haven't been programmed?0 -
No idea, guess they did not switch it on after putting the fuse box in. Will it be okay for me to switch it on? Not like it is doing much at this time of year, assume that would not affect the E7? Or should I leave it off until the “professionals” return?chris_n said:Why is the solar isolator switched off?Paddle No 21:wave:0
